I have been an inpatient here on 5 occasions for bipolar disorder and ADHD. Each stay there has saved my life. Staff are lovely and supportive, my consultant is great, the therapists are helpful and the groups are really useful. I feel very safe there and would 100% go back there if I ever got that unwell again (although hopefully that won't happen). Thank you very much!!

Really bad experience due to an incompetent and very rude secretary. She cancelled my appointment without confirming with me. She told the Dr the appointment was in person instead of on Zoom, so he never joined the appointment zoom call. She also sent me an invoice for the appointment instead of my insurance provider despite being informed I was with insurance and I gave the details for.

My daughter was recently a voluntary patient on the Eating Disorders Unit for a period of 5 days. It was a shocking experience - the culture is one of fear & bullying controlled by staff, many of whom lack any care or compassion. Basic care standards are not being met. I have reported concerns regarding safeguarding and quality of care to the CQC. I urge you to think very carefully about using this service until things demonstrably change.

I found my stay at the Nightingale completely life changing. I came in with severe OCD, being very house bound and scared and not being able to be in public. My struggles had led me to a life of just surviving and feeling hopeless. I honestly felt I would never get my life back. After continuous specialist support from amazing nurses who were so so kind and understanding, the therapeutic team who were incredible from the kind psychology students who are very understanding, sunny and empathetic and also the therapists who are honestly simply the best, I can't recommend them high enough. The lead therapist, Kiren is off the charts amazing and was a huge part in turning my life around. She is incredible, she always helped cheer me up and understood to a tee what I was going through. I have seen a lot of psychologists and a year ago I felt like no one could help me so to be under Kiren's care was a great privilege and I am so grateful, people can really help turn your life around, thank you Kiren ! The therapeutic team make you feel so at ease and safe to share struggles that I felt great shame with. They have seen everything and so I can't say enough how understanding they are. From those of whom I've mentioned to the cleaning staff who are very kind and the continuous smiles from the kitchen staff I couldn't recommend the Nightingale enough. From the ward manager who always had a way of cheering me up to my consultant, Professor Veale. He is the best of the best, instantly understanding my struggles and giving me a space to have a relationship with my OCD that wasn't as scary. The amount of attention and support during my stay was mind-blowing. I have now left and my life has completely changed, going out for day trips to London, taking public transport and going to university! I just want to say a massive massive thank you to everyone at the nightingale, you have given me a new and better life and I just feel so blessed to have made one of the hardest and most scary decisions of my life to go to the Nightingale. Thank you Ward 1a !

AVOID Dr Ghazala Afzal. She is terrifyingly bad. She misdiagnosed me, and even my psychologist remarked how poorly written her psychiatric report was.

A family member was treated here for an eating disorder/mental illness and I cannot thank them enough for helping them through this major life episode. I was really reluctant to admit them into a hospital but am so glad I finally did. All the staff are firm which may seem harsh but they are only doing their job and being responsible. I would have given 5 stars but their administrative side lets them and some rules are just not logical. This place is not cheap (luckily our insurance covered the costs as most do these days) but considering the alternative is waiting for the NHS then this place is worth it. Thank you.

I was, unfortunately, admitted to this hospital referred by my psychiatrist. I am having trouble with anxiety and depression. I’ve been drinking more than I should as a result of that, so I decided to follow the referral.I was admitted on a Friday evening. Another mistake. It was everything rushed and nothing was explained to me well. I told the doctor that I needed to take my thyroid medicines 30 mins before breakfast and my supplements I needed to take with food. He told me he couldn’t accommodate my request because the hospital was busy. They were giving me a cup full of medicines in the morning on an empty stomach which ended up making me feel sick. There was another patient that was rude to me three times for no reason. I decided to write a note to him letting him know that I would not accept any type of bullying from anyone. I read the note at the beginning of a meeting with a therapist as I wanted witnesses for it. The therapist took the side of the bully and went against me to the point he was asking the guy if he was ok. All this in a MENTAL hospital. Where we, wrongly, believe are going to be looked after and heal. I raised the issue with one of the nurses and with my psychiatrist. Nothing was said to me. Not even a “sorry this happened to you”.I made the decision to leave the hospital as I would not allow anyone to be rude to me randomly, whenever they felt like. Leaving the hospital I saw from my leftover medicines that they messed up my thyroid medicines on top of it all.It was nothing less than a tragic experience to me. I wish I never went. Left the place where I went for healing my mental health feeling worst than when I checked in.If you’re considering spending 20k on your mental health, consider doing so in Italy, in a lovely Villa, with your loved ones. Money better spent and you go home with no extra traumas!

I must say the consultants are good there and you get a good selection of high end psychiatrists. That's one advantage. However, don't stay there. It's so disorganized and badly run. Theres no space because it's in central London and when you are in distress you need peace and quiet. You won't get it there. Staff are poor, surly and disinterested. It is incredibly expensive and not worth it.

The treatment I've been receiving since being under the care of Nightingale hospital has been atrocious. I've been seeing Dr Nnatu and for the record he himself has been fine but every other aspect has been appalling. There have been two occasions where letters for my local GP have not been sent, which has meant I've had to call and chase during work in order to obtain the prescription myself. Another occasion they were meant to send a letter detailing a change in medication, except the letter instead gave my GP a few suggestions for new medication and was extremely vague, resulting in even more chasing.I've sent four emails chasing various things, one of them asking if a GP letter was sent or not so I could get to the bottom of the issue; all of them were ignored. After a consultation with Dr Nnatu he said he would provide me with a questionnaire, it's been 6 days and it has still not materialised. This is a level of service I would expect from an NHS service, not from a private hospital. Save your money and your sanity and go somewhere else for treatment, this place is an utter shambles.
