No petrol station in the vicinity of the airport. Not very convenient for returning a hire car. Huge queues for security. Get here early..Very dirty, could do with a good scrub. I'm sure we could do better.

Easily the worst airport I've ever been to. Wretched design and floor layout. For example, you're forced to take a sweeping route through a network of duty-free stores like ikea to get to your gate (picture is the route to all gates). The queues to board are just as bad. Fly somewhere else and take the train. Odds are it'll be cheaper and not nearly as much of a headache.

It's not a great airport.Departures are to the left and right with arrivals in centre, so it's possible for those flying out to pick the wrong side then have to fight through queues and shops narrowing the passing to get to the other side.Wifi is abysmal: connecting is fine, as is bringing up BHX information.. but anywhere outside that just crawls and times out, and the signal isn't particularly strong. When I've enquired, staff just mumble something about so many people using it - even they use their own 4G.Security can be crowded; it seems they only keep a few scanners open and would prefer to kettle people back rather than increase throughput. It's also annoying to fight through Boots perfume upon exiting security to get to the departure lounges. The automated gates only work part of the time - there's a strong feeling they're not interested in getting you to your destination as soon as possible. There's insufficient power points for those wanting to charge devices - you're better off heading to one of the restaurants. BHX is definitely NOT geared up for the modern traveller. There are ample signs showing departure times and locations, so it's not like you're uninformed no matter where you sit (I prefer the Wetherspoon's).Arrivals are an awful experience: once reaching the foot of the stairs the scanners are to the left but you're directed to walk to the right to snake through the barriers so you can queue up. At other airports (Heathrow, etc) , they manually open the barriers to avoid pointless treking and try to get people through as quick as possible, but staff here are too busy talking amongst themselves, watching their mobile phones intently or wandering around aimlessly but self-importantly with walkie-talkies crackling loudly - actually providing any form of customer service isn't really in their remit. And the baggage area is pretty seat-free; I really pity disabled or inform passengers as there's really no waiting area for them.Other European travellers remark how bad UK airports are. They're an improvement on the level of service from USA... but I think BHX could do a LOT to improve the experience. I only fly from BHX for the convenient location rather than by choice.

Easily the worst arrivals I travel through. Departures free WiFi is better but the cafés there can have odd operating hours. Parking anywhere near pick-up/drop-off costs a fortune and is very dirty

The whole taxi and Private Hire trade should refuse to pick up from BHX until we can do so without being charged for the privilege. Our passengers should not have to walk 300 yards with luggage to the car parks.

Cleaning is a disgrace!Really shame to see that this great Airport with really friendly staff is let down by the poor cleaning standards across the airport.Washrooms toilet rim filthy, edges full of dust, spills not taken care off, chewing gum across the floors, glass in the departure lounges not cleaned for days. Depressing impression for visitors leaving this great city/country.Come on Birmingham Airport you can do better!!!!

Crowded, very poor WiFi and truly outrageous prices. Saving grace is it's probably better than most, but that's not saying much.

It's not Birmingham Alabama that's for sure. Crappy little regional airport undergoing the usually annoying construction work that likely makes 0 difference. People are very friendly. Easy access to town.
