The Dog & Bell
Great pub in the north of Deptford. Nice selection of beers, both cask and craft. The food is very good pub fare. They have various events from pub quizzes to live music and more.Pub is very dog friendly (and includes a very nice pub dog). There is inside and outside seating. Highly recommend this pub.

Lovely pub to visit good range of drinks with a lovely atmosphere, Christmas decorations are fantastic, plenty of space with outside space great to stop off at following a walk along the Thames.

Really lovely spot with the most eclectic decorations - everywhere you look there’s something fun and quirky! Staff were top notch and there’s plenty of space inside and out. There was live music playing when we visited on a Friday night and the vibes were great. Only downside were the women’s toilets which were vile - flooded and in a very bad state. Other than that, rated this pub highly!

Great pub with includes large pavement seating area outside. Famous for its real ales. I attended the Irish Beer Festival with 10 beers from Ireland on the handpumps. Great friendly and efficient staff.

I have been here for the St Patrick's Day celebrations for many years. This year was rather disappointing. There weren't many dark beers on offer, no beer list tasting notes, and also the beer barrels were not all set up in the pub itself like previous years. Otherwise, it's a great Irish themed pub to admire

Very good Deptford pub close to the Thames Path. Five cask beers on handpump when I last visited. Lots of outdoor seating in the road which is closed to traffic and in the beer garden to the rear, most of it covered.

My local forty years ago, it was interesting coming back after all this time. The pub is hardly recognizable, it’s expanded in all directions, and looks like the bar will continue to grow this fall. I liked the bright red theme throughout the place, my only complaint was the pub use to sell the best ESB you could find now only sells Pride.

The Dog and Bell is a fine example of the typical English Pub one finds dotting London. Tucked away in a quiet street in Deptford, quite close to the riverfront, you may not come across this gem unless you go looking for it.What differentiates The Dog and Bell from other pubs is the atmosphere. Invariably, you can hear the place before you actually chance upon it. It is always one noisy riot that goes on well into the night. We dropped in one late evening attracted by the sounds and the overflowing sense of fun and we were not disappointed. The place was packed as usual and it was difficult to find seating. However, the courteous and friendly Maitre d' pulled us into the warmth of the place with his jolly greeting offering us a choice of places to sit.We found ourselves amidst friendly people who did not hesitate to talk to us even though we were strangers. The pub itself is beautiful with flowers everywhere. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The menu offers typical English fare with a few exceptions like Thai Green Curry and Hariyali Lentil Daal.To drink, we had the Caipirihna, which is supposed to be Brazil's national drink. It's a cocktail made of Cachaça rum, fresh lime, sugar and soda water and was quite refreshing. And of course, we also had lots of beer.We were there for dinner and here's what we ate - Buffalo Wings and Th Ploughman's Platter which consisted of roasted ham, pickled eggs, apple slices, mature cheddar, Cashel blue cheese with a baguette and an assortment of pickles. It tasted alright but the blue cheese quite defeated my Indian palate. On the whole it was a warm and homely experience with a friendly atmosphere 'specially on a cold, rainy night!

One of my favourite London pubs. So cozy, friendly, and beautiful atmosphere. Especially the nights when the Deptford Jazz Collective plays live jazz!
