1897 Gentlemen’s Luxury Barbershop

After seeing Dave Grohl front Foo Fighters in 2014 I decided I would grow my hair long. I had always had a short back and sides as every private schoolboy did, and when I saw Dave’s wild, unruly and untamed rocker hair I thought “that’s something no one can tell me not to do”. Admittedly, my girlfriend and now fiancé had cut it back every 6 months or so, it was at least nipple length for most of the past 9 years. I was reluctant to get a short cut again after so long, barbers can take things too far and I have often been disappointed– Not these guys. The service was exceptional and it is likely the best haircut I’ve ever had. If I knew then what I know now I would have booked the VIP suite and had the whole experience before the wedding next month. Alas, Sydney doesn’t have a similar caliber barber. 10/10, would recommend.

I had an excellent experience with my barber, Aryan! He did a fantastic job on my haircut, leaving me completely satisfied. Not only is he skilled at his craft, but he is also incredibly friendly and sociable, making the whole experience enjoyable. The store itself has a beautiful and unique ambiance, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. I highly recommend Aryan for anyone in need of a great haircut and a pleasant barbering experience.

Undoubtedly one of the best experiences one can have in a barber shop. The atmosphere is very welcoming and super classy and elegant. There is a great attention to every detail both in the haircut and in all the surrounding equipment.The whole service is top notch (from the complimentary coffee to the friendly conversations with the staff) and made me feel like I have treated myself in the best way possible. One can only leave with a big smile from the shop.

I recently discovered this hidden gem of a barbershop in South Kensington. It's hands down the best barbershop experience I've had…unreal!It has amazing vintage decor and classic touches. It's clear that the owner at 1897 takes pride in creating an authentic and unique atmosphere.But the real star of the show and most importantly, is the service. The barbers are fantastic and take their time to ensure you get the perfect haircut or beard trim, really listening to what you want. The products they use smell incredible too which makes all the difference - you can buy what they use to take home.They offer complimentary barista quality coffee, or cold drinks too!I’d recommend 1897 time and time again, 10/10! They've set the bar high for all other barbershops in South Ken!

Absolutely fantastic. The haircut is very professional, and the quality of products is top of the line! The barbers are also good conversationalists (an important part of the job!). Would recommend to all.

The BEST Barber in London! Arian has build a beautiful shop, one of a kind! Not only is he the best barber but amazing hospitality! Greated with a complimentary coffee or tea and then treated to a great experience. They do men's, children's, even top quality shaves! I highly recommend!

Best haircut ever!I only bother writing reviews when I’m very happy or very disappointed, and this falls right into the first category.My barber was Liviu, and he was very chill and nice to talk to. I felt comfortable conveying my wishes to him, so I decided this would be my first time getting my beard trimmed as well. Both my hair and my beard turned out amazing!Definitely going back here next time I’m in London!
