Hotel Chocolat

I went into hotel chocolat to buy my dad a birthday present. I had chosen the christmas selection box and went to the checkout to purchased but was asked for my id as i didn’t look 18. Being 16, i was quite confused on why they wouldn’t let me buy chocolates with a little bit of alcohol in there as it was unlikely i would get drunk off of one chocolate! the server was quite rude about it so i decided to leave. later on my dad contacted the shop and was greeted by the lovely charlie bright, she was devistated that my dad hadn’t recieved the chocolates on his birthday and for the reason i had been refused them (as you only needed to be 16 to buy them). so much so that when i returned she gave us a free box and a heartfelt apology. thank you!

Amazing customer service. The guy who took our order (I believe his name was Jack) was extremely friendly and really patient with my allergy requests :’) I came here a few times and he is always so kind

A great alternative to the old age chocolate buying experience! We love the cafe experience, albeit quite small. Hot chocolates and ice creams are a must-have! All we need now is the full cafe experience with a breakfast and lunch serving!

the ladies at Hotel Chocolat on 13/10/23 were so lovely! I accidentally spilled my chocolate shakes and they went above and beyond to help me and my friend out. very grateful for their patience and help.

I love this place! The staff are so helpful and friendly. The products are on the slightly pricey end ( I got 2 boxes of chocolate for £15) but it's the best chocolate I've ever had. There are vegan options and interesting flavours of alcohol. They also have a cafe that offers both sit in and takeaway and the drinks they serve in the cafe are not only the most affordable item in the shop, but the best hot drink for any time of the year.

It’s nice, but the place could do with more staff, wait times are honestly ridiculous, no fault to the staff. They did there best, but there is maybe 30 seats, and 1 person to handle them all, fix that and it would be a 5

If they have them, I would recommend the bags of 'ugly but good' but be careful as some could be overpriced .. they had 180g bags of broken Easter eggs when the large eggs were 70% off .. noticed the same after Christmas, so check the weights of these before buying!Not many bargains last time we visited but as the store is in an outlet centre 'normal' stock is discounted a bit.

The hot chocolate (70%) is delicious, definitely recommend. During the day, during the week it is pretty quiet and you can get a table and served quickly. Sadly, on a Saturday afternoon this was not the case. I waited 15 minutes to get to the counter to order 2 teas and a hot chocolate. There were two staff members behind the counter but only one was making drinks, the other seemed to be obsessively cleaning and tidying instead of making drinks. Several people gave up and left while I was waiting and I nearly did the same myself. The person behind the counter didn’t even apologise for the wait either. I wasn’t impressed all in all. The hot chocolate also came in a mug without a handle which while different, hot drink mugs have a handle for a reason! It was hot and needed a handle. All in all, a shame as the hot chocolate is really very nice

The place to go if you like chocolate, almost every craving is covered, from indulgent hot chocolate drinks to many different flavoured individual chocolates. Of particular high mention, the chocolate coated rum soaked sultanas or the chocolate coated cherries soaked in kirsch.
