We went to see Phil Wang with his support act at the Barbican. We love this venue - easy to source parking, easy to find and a great auditorium. Phil was so funny - a real talent and highly recommend catching a live show.

Year after year, attending the snooker event at the Barbican Centre in York has become a tradition, and it never fails to deliver an exciting experience for fans of the sport. The venue is well-organized, and security measures are handled efficiently, ensuring a smooth entry process for attendees. However, a minor inconvenience arises during the half-time interval when the queues for the toilets become notably long. This can be a slight drawback, especially when trying to make the most of the break between sessions. It would be beneficial for the venue to consider ways to alleviate this bottleneck and enhance the overall convenience for visitors. On a positive note, the security measures in place are reassuring, contributing to a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. The Barbican Centre's commitment to maintaining a secure environment for its patrons is commendable. One aspect that might leave some patrons with mixed feelings is the pricing of drinks. While the quality and variety of beverages are satisfactory, the prices are on the higher side, especially when considering the surrounding area. It would be beneficial for the Barbican Centre to review and possibly adjust its drink prices to better align with the expectations of its audience. In summary, the Barbican Centre in York remains a top destination for snooker enthusiasts, providing an annual dose of thrilling matches. Addressing the toilet queues during the interval and reevaluating drink prices could further enhance the overall experience, ensuring that patrons continue to enjoy this iconic snooker event in York.

Had a great time seeing the Steve-O bucket list tour. First time in the venue and it is a very nice size, not too big. Great views, drinks are a bit pricey but it's what you'd expect at a venue. The Barbican definitely looks aged from the outside, starting to look a bit tired but it was still a fantastic venue. Staff were all great too.

This is a great venue for watching snooker. Queues to get in were ok, with the usual security checks you would expect. There were 2 bars offering a decent selection of drinks and snacks. One of the bars had hot food too. Once inside the main auditorium, the views of both tables are brilliant

My first visit to the Barbican even though I visit York on a regular basis.I had tickets to see Kate Rusby.I was surprised by the level of security at the doors-the weather was absolutely foul but we had to queue outside with separate bag check, then individual check then ticket scan. The foyer/ main bar area is spacious and is where people wait for the interior doors to open.I was very impressed when we did get into the performance area-bright and spacious with tiered seating divided into sections so easier to access. The acoustics were excellent and I had a great view from row K.Kate Rusby’s show was exceptional!Good value for money, comfortable seating, a very enjoyable evening. We are keeping an eye on the programme for future shows.Located just outside the City Walls close to Walmgate bar, the Barbican has parking but it is also served well by local buses. It’s about a 10minute walk from the market, 5 minutes from Walmgate and about 7 minutes from the Rose and Crown pub on Lawrence Street which is where I was staying.I did take a photo of the stage before the show began but sadly the quality is not good enough to share.

Great place. Drinks are just over £5 per pint but that's normal for events. But get a couple as they don't serve during performances.

We saw Rob Lamberti and the seats are comfortable with plenty of leg room. The sound quality was very good. We certainly would return. We didn't buy anything there - the drinks are expensive.

Visited the Barbican for a Level 42 concert & what a brilliant night it was. The venue was good, but the band was on top form & rocked the building what a great night xx

We attended Level 42/ The Christians concert. The whole experience was great from arrival to the end of the concert. We took the Gateway+ option and so enjoyed complimentary drinks in the bar and during the intermission. We were shown to our seats and the staff looked after us extremely well. Well worth seeing your favourite band/show there and if able, use the Gateway+, you won't be disappointed.

It's become a great venue. Now with good sound and visibility. Staff are friendly and the programme is very varied. The picture is Kate Rusby's annual Xmas concert, a much loved fixture since 2006
