Although London has a lot of public parks, if you want to really get the gel of being in amongst nature you would be hard pressed to find anywhere better than The London Wetlands Centre. The layout is really well done with a number of spacious hides and a fabulously well developed setting. The planting and lake areas are lovely. The otters are a delight, if you want to take a break from the numerous birds. There's a spacious cafe with indoor and outdoor seating for a bit of refreshment when you need it as well.

The most beautiful place to wonder around.Crazy kids will be sure to use their energy walking around, playing in the park area(sprinkler and water play alert so bring a change of clothes) plenty of picnic areas.Play and creative areas inside too, cafe and extremely clean toilet blocks everywhereBe sure to do the wild walk, rope bridge, super fun.And don't forgot to stop and see Honey and Todd otters being fed at the otter talk.Happy exploring

I enjoyed a few hours here with my camera. To be honest I don't think it's as enjoyable as other WWT centres because of the jumbo jets flying over every five minutes. However, the theme of a Wetland in the middle of a city works well and I'd definitely return.

I loved this trip to London wetlands. So many amazing wild life here. I will definitely be going back again soon. It was £17 for each adult (which included donation) but it was a great break from city life and very peaceful there. Just a tip, that the cafe closed early at like 3pm and all the food is gone then, a bit weird as the place doesn't close till later.

We had a very lovely day at London Wetland Center. It is worth the ticket price to enjoy the nature and get informed. We visited at a weekday so it wasn’t much crowded. If you want to see the otters be by their pool earlier than the feeding time cause people block the windows with strollers. I didn’t know that they built the place out of nothing l was very impressed. Highly recommend.

The otter enclosure is closed for maintenance so check if that’s something you want to see. It’s on the website and well signedNo bittern but our life membership - we started on annual - helps conservation and nothing paid today. You wouldn’t think you are in London. Want somewhere to walk around - accessible paths, free parking and staff and volunteers happy to give information.Want more serious birding but can’t get out of London or want to make the most of the time available to you there are different habitats and go through the collection to the Wildside and it’s more wild. We’ve seen bittern, who’d have thought in London. Not today but we heard water rail and saw half a dozen grey herons. It’s expensive, (but is it really?) for a single visit but check out membership. A visit in each season and it pays for itself and you support conservation.

I am not your typical bird watcher but this is more than just a bird haven. The otter talk at 11am, repeated at 2pm, was wonderful. So gorgeous to see these beautiful creatures up close and personal. It was amazing to go into well appointed hides not realising what was behind, only to see a beautiful lake full of wildlife. Overall beautiful landscaping and natural looking buildings made it a lovely place to visit and a delicious steak pie and veg was the icing on the cake.

Great place to enjoy nature with children. Visit the otters and listen to the talk at 11am or go pond dipping, go to the playground and play with the water feature or crawl through the tunnels, then have lunch at the cafe and then upstairs to the indoor play area. Simple fun and easy to cycle to if you go along the river. Pie and sides was £12.95. Children's menu - mini fish and chips £7 and Sausage hot dog £5. Easy enough to walk around with lots of benches for rest stops. Bathrooms easy to find and clean. Recommend bringing a picnic as we saw lots of families doing that. If you like gum nuts and gum leaves, then there is a World Wetlands area. Can easily spend 4 to 5 hours here just slowly wandering around.

The wildlife conservation habitat opened in 2000 artificially constructed from former Victorian water storage facilities alongside the Thames.Covering over 100acres of mostly wetlands, ponds and open meadow with maintained pathways over unchallenging terrain. An Impressive outdoor amenity offering outstanding educational and recreational opportunity for all ages.Perhaps of more interest to dedicated birdwatchers and hardcore ornithologist but unlikely to disappoint the inquisitive.
