I have got to know Eric over the last ten years, upgrading wooden windows in our clinic that is in a conservation area, then with changing various doors he and his team are always friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Recently this year we undertook a major expansion of the clinic necessitating complete refurbishment of the newly acquired part, he and his team have been fantastic. I have some reasonable skills as a DIY carpenter however in this recent project he has carried out many jobs to a very high standard, and I do specifically want to extend excellent praise for the new stair case, beautifully crafted with six winders and Eric taught me something that the secret to a good staircase is the flow, and what he has created in such a small space works fantastically. After several attempts to find a carpenter to undertake 4 separate tasks, an odd job man recommended Erec Seward.We required a new bathroom door to be made and fitted, a set of shelves to be removed and replaced downstairs and a new set of shelving to be fitted in one of the bedrooms, together with fitting a new loft ladder and converting the loft hatch. Previous contractors, simply didn’t want to know, but Erec came around and discussed the individual aspects of each task, offering suggestions, which we took up, and then he offered separate quotations for each job.His workmanship was absolutely first class. The bathroom door matched the style of the old one perfectly. We also asked that the door be hung so that it opened the opposite way and he filled in the old hinge recesses and door keep within the door frames, so that you couldn’t tell that it hadn’t always opened that way. With the shelving, he used hidden angle iron to reinforce each shelf and had sawn off wooden dowels to fill all of the screw holes, so that these are invisible once painted.The loft ladder and loft hatch proved challenging, but he was certainly up to the task and he sealed the loft hatch with draft excluders that was a great finishing touch.We couldn’t have been more pleased with his work and he deserves a good review for what was an excellent series of well executed tasks. We certainly wouldn’t hesitate to use him again in the future.
