GAK Music Emporium

My wife was virtually ignored when shopping here for birthday gift. She spent £200, more than all the men around her who were buying strings and spending just a few quid. She wasn't offered a bag, despite the rain, when she asked the assistant for one he simply said 'I don't have one' and offered nothing more. I've used GAK for years but won't any longer. This is 2023 and yet shops like this continue to believe they don't have to offer decent customer service. It's so easy to be nice, try it some time.

Super helpful staff (you know who you are) helping instore and over email even on his day off! I have ended up getting two lovely guitars that will be with me for a long time!I went into GAK in 2018 and didnt have the best experience when looking to try a guitar, and didnt think i'd ever be going back any time soon! Go forward 5 years and i wanted to try some Gibson SG models they had in stock. Two of the more expensive ones they had! I didnt like them, however i did find a JM sig that i took home that day! 4 days later I went back as they had a 2nd hand SG that ticked all the boxes. Got a good deal on a part ex, and i will be using them as my go to store from now on for any new purchases and for any technical issues! Looking forward to a long relationship going forward! 5/5! Very impressed with their customer service!

Great selection of kit and good advice provided by the staff. Purchased a BOSS Katana 50W amplifier. Really pleased with it. Also sold some of my old gear via their second hand purchase scheme - again got a fair price.

Didnt have what we needed in stock despite saying it was in online? But anyway, great place, been here before one of the best music shops to go to.Absolutely no street parking anywhere and extortionate prices for the multi story car parks worth noting.

Bought a cort guitar but arrived in awful condition. Got a replacement also in terrible condition. Decided I'd have better luck collecting a guitar so it could be looked over. Bought a gretsch at over double price expecting the quality control to be better. Got the guitar home and the pickup screws and springs fell out. Took it back to get fixed the next day. Guitar got delivered after getting fixed and the screws appear to be loose. Guitars were all bought new and the gretsch came out this year. Not a pleasant set of transactions.

GAK has a really good range of guitars and equipment and whenever I have bought something, the customer service has been great. Most sections of the shop seem to have quite good customer service, however when I want to go in and try something out in the electric guitar department, the staff are always really rude and unhelpful, and I'm always met with an only if you're going to buy it" or an "are you planning on buying this today"

If you're interested in Gibson and / or Fender guitars, then this is probably the best music store in the UK. Amazing place. Staff great too. Cheers.
