Over many years of hiring boats from Countrywide we have had a surfeit of fun and good experiences. The boat we hired this year was a bit ‘tired’ and needed a total interior refit, but despite that the mechanics of the boat were first rate and overall very reliable. Prices are favourable and there is no extra charges for consumables such as diesel. Staff very helpful and polite, much to recommend

Extremely helpful to us and they went over and above in dealing with an emergency on our narrow boat - even though it is not one of theirs. Although we understandably had to wait until they had done the urgent turnaround on their own hire boats, we were very grateful for the speedy and helpful service and additional advice from Countrywide Cruisers.

We were blessed with a beautiful week of sunshine, but even so, the Shropshire canal was more than either of us expected. We hired Sir Ironside from Countrywide Cruisers and we couldn't have chosen a better company. From the initial contact, via mail, email and telephone, we were given all the information we needed. And when we arrived to pick up the boat we were amazed at how well it was equipped. I had anticipated a sparce selection of things in the kitchen, but no, it was all there. Cafetiere, cheese grater, bottle opener etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower room was clean. All linen was included. Actually the only thing we had to buy was food and drink. And even then we were left a bottle of complimentary wine to ease us into our first evening. We had excellent instruction from all the staff at Countrywide, and assurances that they would come out to us if we had any problems. We didn't, as everything worked well. For two somewhat elderly (well 70s) first timers it was incredibly smooth and hassle free. We saw wonderful wild life up and down the canal and met some lovely friendly folk. Wish we had more than a week. We'll have to come back.

We had a fantastic holiday on Sir Galleron. The boat was really well equipped, and the instruction before we started was thorough and friendly. The bed mattress was a little bit hard and uncomfortable for my taste, but the quilt and pillows were great.Just wish we could back for another week of leisurely cruising!

The booking process was a little way from being the most efficient online process I've encountered but the main thing was the boat and the holiday - both first class. Great service from the moment we arrived and were shown around Sir Bruin. For our mid-week break from Brewood to Market Drayton & back, this canal boat was just what we wanted for our floating home from home. Very well equipped with a decent fridge and galley area we were able to cater for ourselves as and when we wanted to. Comfortable beds with decent quality bed linen and central heating throughout it was all very enjoyable. The mechanics of the boat were all in top order. Nice & quiet (for a canal boat) Izuzu engine. Accurate steering and a 240v electrical system gave us all we wanted for a great canal holiday. This was our first time on the Shropshire canal and, thanks to Countrywide Cruisers, it won't be our last.

Just got back from 2 weeks doing The 4 county ring on The Sir Valadon it was spotless clean staff were amazing so helpful would recommend to anyone who was thinking of doing a narrow boat holiday.
