Sheffield Register Office

Really disappointed by the service offered here. For our wedding we used their online forms to try and book an appointment, this did not work and left us close to missing the required deadlines to be married. The process involves a telephone interview and then a face-to-face meeting the following day which is annoying if you have job that can't be interrupted whenever they feel like calling. We're now trying to register a birth for which I booked a phone call for 1 hour and 15 minutes ago, still haven't heard from them. Still a two meeting process.

Does not even deserve a 1 star for the service they provide!Booked a registrar really easily in 2020 for a wedding in 2021 via the online system. Then had to postpone due to covid restrictions and our venue choosing not to hold any weddings. Trying to get hold of the registry office is near enough impossible and trying to make contact with an actual human being does not exist.Finally managed to change our date and got married 19.03.22 after weeks/months of emails but then no further confirmation or further instruction about what would happen at the ceremony etc. I hadn’t been married before so had no idea what to expect and it was only speaking to work colleagues I knew what to expect and what I should be receiving. After weeks of emails and a call that finally went through to someone to be told you will decide 15 minutes before you get married what is going to happen is disgusting and very destressing. There was a lot of unnecessary stress caused on the run up to wedding and now there has been a typing error on our marriage certificate and I cannot contact anyone. Sent email after email and finally spoke to someone from the council (not registry office) to be told it’s only via email. What a joke!Really quick to take your money but offer a disappointing service. Would not recommend at all using Sheffield city council.

Went to get details for a Proof of Living certificate. Very efficient and friendly service. Knew exactly what I wanted. No unnecessary bureaucracy. Also very good service from First Point who pointed no pun intended" in the right direction."

Absolutely laughable. Sent off for marriage certificates 10 weeks ago, they have only just arrived. Office that processes them doesn't have a phone. They don't respond to emails. My husband finally managed to speak to someone, to be told they hadn't got our payment and that we needed to pay again. 10 mins later emailed him to say we had paid. Don't know their arse from their elbow, phoned them today and the lady I spoke to said she had no recollection of speaking to my husband, despite telling him a few days ago our certificates were marked as urgent! They speak to a lot of people" apparently

I could scream! How can a bunch of people be so incompetent? I have been emailing them (apparently they don't answer the phone) for 3 weeks to try and arrange a suitable date for a registrar for our wedding... They are making the whole thing a nightmare. It takes them nearly a week to reply with an email that isn't even providing info on the requested dates. Then someone else responded to the same email telling me something totally different to what the original reply said!After painstakingly emailing over and over and over, I eventually agreed a date that was available with them and our wedding venue... So of course the next day they sent a confirmation" email with a totally different date!! Seriously this is so stressful. I don't even know how they manage to make this process so difficult. I just want to ring someone

Took an absolute age to book a registrar for our wedding. No one answered their phones and they took ages to respond to emails. My marriage certificate recently came through, crumpled up and in an open envelope. When you pay £500+ for a service you expect better. This department really needs an overhaul. We had to give notice at Doncaster Council as that is where we live and they were a million times easier to deal with. Have a look at Doncaster Register office google reviews and take note Sheffield. I will say the registers on the wedding day were lovely though.

I'd give this service no stars if it was possible. After waiting for a telephone appointment that never happened I received a vague email telling me something I've already done. Then spent 45 minutes waiting to get through on the phone which was no help whatsoever. Why do you make is so different to get a death certificate at the worst time for people. Completely inadequate and not fit for purpose. And then the council has the cheek to rise tax.

I went to register my baby birth, it was completed in less than 10 minutes of time. Friendly staff and approachable. You can book appointments online for a particular time slot and it saves you a lot of time. This palace has toilets with baby nappy changing facilities and disabled friendly entrances. This palace doesn't have a dedicated parking facilities for visitors.

No exsiting service cannot get through on the website, phoned the office and it directs you to the website. what do we pay our council taxes for.
