Absolutely beautiful restaurant, the presentation of the dishes is immense. The look is followed by the quality of the produce. Expertly cooked and placed, it really makes for quite the experience.The staff were very warm and proud of the dishes they served.We chose the chefs special tasting course which we'd highly recommend.Dog friendly too which always scores highly with us.

Great menu and quality of the food was excellent. Restaurant is very dark so we couldn't read the menus without phone torches, but the ambience is very classy. We were having a relaxed evening with friends, so the length of time between courses (nearly two from arrival to completing 4 small plates for a table of 4) didn't matter too much, but it might be an issue if you had a time limit

My husband took me to FUMI for a birthday treat and we both had such a wonderful time! The food and drinks where fantastic. Everything was so delicious, well presented and had good portion sizes. There were so many great options on the menu that we ended up getting several small plates to share as well as a main and was stuffed by the end. (they do have a tasting menu too if you can't decide!)The atmosphere was lovely and the service was fast, friendly and truly went above and beyond.I have coeliac so require strict gluten free. The majority of the menu is gluten free so loads of choice. They where very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable and safe eating here and even made one of the gluten containing dishes gluten free! I had no adverse reaction so they aced it!

Disabled friendly resturant and cafe! Absolutely beautiful inside and a disabled toilet is a good size. In my opinion as a powered wheelchair user.We had 'blue moon' smoothie and a yuzu bowl - delicious!They also do fluffy pancakes here - We got one of the vegetarian ones :)

Delicious, authentic Japanese food, in a beautiful environment. From the moment we entered it was clear that a lot of thought and care has gone into this place, from the furniture to the stoneware. A grown up restaurant for people who appreciate skilful and refined cooking; something that Brighton is sadly lacking. Very high quality sushi served as it should be, not freezing cold. The lunch bento box in particular offers fantastic value. We had a lovely experience and can't wait to go back.

The atmosphere captured us as soon as we passed it for the first time, and being inside it’s an incredibly pleasant ambience. It does get a little dark inside at night; it wasn’t a problem for us as we enjoyed the atmosphere it created, but anyone with low light visual impairments may struggle.The food is fantastic, and well worth the price; we had the prawn tempura, the soft shell crab makizushi, the kabayaki eel rice bowl, and the watermelon steak yakisoba (a phenomenal dish, neither of us are vegetarian but it blew us away; it looked so good that the one photo I took of it is blurry from over-eagerness). We also had drinks (a mocktail and some sake) and two delicious desserts; a chocolate fondant with pistachio gelato and a wonderful pear tarte tatin at the waiter’s recommendation.The service is warm and the wait staff are helpful and attentive. They’re very accommodating and will make sure you’re comfortable. The whole place has a beautifully deliberate feel to it, and it makes for an absolutely lovely experience. I would recommend Fumi to anyone looking for a fancy date night, a high-quality celebration, or anyone looking for some top class food, it really is some of the best Japanese food I’ve had.

Unfortunately they are not ready for full service on a weekend. We were a party of 4 and ordered the 6 course tasting menu. It took a crazy two hours to be served the second of our 6 courses. We were all so hungry! The sushi was delicious but that was only the first course. After that the food was a disaster- we had three identical courses served- a piece of cooked fish on a tiny bit of steamed veg, some of these were under cooked fish and half our table had overcooked tuna. It was the same dish served three times! I’ve never experienced such an embarrassing shambles of a restaurant service. Staff were incredibly nice and apologetic but unfortunately we were still there over four hours only to go home hungry. I really could go on and on. At 10 pm when we’d still not been served the rest of our food half the kitchen staff all came out to chat at the bar ending their shift with each other as if the night had not been a disaster for the guests! While we sat there wondering if this six courses would ever end! The bill presented was £364 with the token 15% discount. We contested this as it was not a meal more a piece of performance theatre on the worse opening night restaurant! I hope they get it together, and wish them luck as the one piece of sushi at the start of the meal had promise, and the decor is stunning. But I would not go there for a few weeks till they’ve sorted themselves out!

I've been here 2 times now and still think very highly of this place. One of the key aspects that differentiates this place for me is the attentiveness and hospitality of the waiting staff led by (I believe the owner)-Great sushi experience - quality and taste of the ingredients is apparent-Great ambiance and the design - possibly the best in the city-Great service - given that it's a new restaurant I would imagine they're extra attentive and on-point with the service, but I don't believe that will deteriorate-Cost - not the cheapest, but worth it

We had the 4 course chef menu and it was delicious. Great service and range of options for drinks and food. Lovely decor and the atmosphere was perfect for a Saturday night out.The black cod (always a favourite of mine) was exceptional and the tarte tatin was better than the one I had in France last week!We will definitely visit again
