Tavern at the Mill
We went on a rainy dark night so didn’t see outside but inside was clean and spacious. Service was poor really more concerned with chatting to regulars and friends than seeing if new guest were ok. Carvery was possibly the smallest portions of meat able to be cut by a knife and the veg was mostly empty. Kids meal came out after we had finished our carvery and we waited for a bit before we went for our meal.Over all for the price not a great experience.

The food was nice. Short staff but that shouldn’t be an excuse for the staff there to be abrupt. We pointed out a label for cauliflower cheese but only cauliflower under the hot plate and the server was short with us. Another was short with us when I asked was there lactose free milk for cappuccinos. Hope you get more staff soon as it is noticeable that need more hands on deck.

Seems a very popular place. They have what look like good garden booths (with TVs?). Waited a while for our food order to be taken, while staff chatted and laughed amongst themselves at the bar area 3 feet away. At least the advertised pie was actually a proper pie ( Is it a Pukka pie?). Food was luke warm.

Not been in for a couple of years. Definitely improved. We really enjoyed the mixed grill and scampi and granddaughter munched her way through a big burger and fries cooked well and nice and hot.Staff nice and friendly especially Saskia Will definitely be going again well done keep up the good work.

What a shame! Had heard a lot of good things about this place prior to my visit……but unfortunately my experience wasn’t as good as I was hoping. Food was fine, and for ‘pub grub’ it was quite nice. The staff were also friendly and approachable in the main, the problem was there weren’t enough of them. Whoever is in charge of staffing/rotas really need to get their act together. Were greeted on arrival by a sign stuck to the door stating due to staff shortages only the carvery or the pub classics part of the menu was available. This wasn’t mentioned when the booking was made by phone. A member of our party told us this was exactly what happened on his last visit. Because of this, the wait to order, and the wait to receive our food really was unacceptable. Despite the apparent shortages, there still seemed to be a lot of staff just milling around. Management issue that needs sorting. Wouldn’t visit again unless things were improved dramatically.

We have been here previously,generally very good,on this occasion there was an issue, as the full menu was unavailable?.Nice after the refurbishment,can get busy,just get there before the rush & you'll be ok.If your having the carvery,a decent plate size is always good.

A night out with some work colleagues and wives . We did not eat this time I have many times in the past always great food service and prices. I love the Joseph Holt stout a match for Guinness. A nice venue to meet friends and just Talk.

Tavern at the Mill
Good menu and carvery. Fantastic cakes and ice cream. Staff are helpful and friendly. Good menu if you don't want the carvery. Carvery has choice of small, medium and large plates and you buy a carvery ticket plus drinks at the bar before queuing for carvery. Make sure that you leave room for the cakes if you just can't fit it in or just want to buy to eat later they will give you a takeaway box.

We had a lovely experience start to finish.Great food, and lovely staff who all took really good care of us, our dog, and our friend's child.They were so lovely about turning the music down for my neurodiverse ears.There was good range of dietary requirements provision for our friends.It was the best roast beef we've ever had on a carvery, at least 8 types of yummy veg, 3 types of spud and lots of crackling!And the football was on at a pleasant volume, so Mr was happy too.We'll be back :)

Came here few days ago and bought 2 carvery’s at £10.75 a meal and the pictures look amazing what are advertised but when we went there was no sprouts, no cauliflower, no onions, and so it was meat with mash potato, roast potatoes, peas and sweetcorn and Yorkshire pudding. The boiled potatoes omg they were bone dry and shrivelled up so didn’t even bother with them. For the price it was extortionate and reading social media reviews say the same.
