Nothing but stress. Unfortunately I got refused my visa. Apparently the medical wasn't right. Even though my solicitor has been through it. I've put an appeal in. It's, been 4 months and still had no communication. Nobody answers calls, or emails. Just no answers

It’s absolutely appalling! I’m a Spanish citizen and it’s a shame how they are handling all type of process. No answer the phone, just email or they not even reply the emails. What a shame guys! It’s a shame!

As a Spanish national myself I feel so ashame by these people. Their service is absolutely disgraceful specially over the phone. Not professional at all, hanging up the call while you’re still trying to get help from them.Makes me want to never want to deal with them again but no other option…

We got our TIE cards this week in Spain meaning the first years visa on Non Lucrative is now complete. It took 6 months almost exactly. As far as Manchester goes the only good, helpful people are the two guys on security. The desk staff treated us terrible. We had a young asian girl who could not have been more dismissive, awkward, condescending and incompetent if she tried. The post office style desks mean its almost impossible to hear what is being said.I explained to her that I couldn't do one of the forms as the link on their own website didn't work (time of writing it still doesn't)She told us we were pressing the wrong button (without checking her screen - rubbish) and gave us the forms in Spanish and told us to fill them in and queue up again. We managed to fill them in using google translate but I refused to wait again and just went back to the desk. She then told us we had put the wrong NIE numbers on our forms and changed them - we hadnt she had got it wrong them had to change them back - no apology. She then went through out papers which were all in order, translated and apostilled. On the financial requirement we had more than 5 times the minimum needed on the Spanish iPrem. in our Spanish bank. I had also brought my statements for our UK banks and my private pension statements. She demanded the deeds to my Spanish home as she said we might use some of our cash to buy one after the visa was issued. Their own government says that the iprem is meant to cover all costs including housing. When I said that she said they can demand whatever they want so I thought it better to shut up.She then demanded proof that we had fully paid up our Uk state pensions. I explained that we had but couldn't legally draw on that for 12 years and as I was applying for a years visa I hadn't brought the government pension details. She said send it with your deeds via email.A nasty, incompetent vile piece of work.We send the extra things in via email and post and they confirmed they had them. She didn't give me the number you are supposed to use to check your progress so I had to go back for that another day.Even though Madrid approved our applications fairly quickly Manchester made us wait the full 12 weeks maximum before calling us in to collect the visa. The bits we had to do in Spain to complete the process were easy and painless. The Spanish officials were very kind and helpful. Maybe they should send the idiots in Manchester over to get trained up.Finally - don't bother trying to ring or email them, they will not answer ever. And when I check the visa state on their own website it still says in progress. That sums up this lot.

I am trying to book an appointment for visa application. After facing issues online when trying to book an appointment. I have sent several emails and rang several times. No one responds to the emails, they don't answer calls, if they do answer the response is wait or we can't do anything. All my paperwork is in date and in oder but I can't get an appointment. Very unprofessional and no customer services. I have no hope of getting my visa in time for January 2014.

I have never spoken to such a rude unhelpful ignorant person ever until I spoke to the Spanish consulate advisor on passports I asked for help to get to right place he said call back and click each option until you find the right one I said can you not help me and transfer to right place he replied “no I cannot bye bye” and ended the call, I can now not even call the number it’s as if I’ve been blocked.

I had an appointment to register my birth at the Spanish Consulate in Manchester last Wednesday. I was extremely nervous having read some of the negative reviews on here about the service. I received a very efficient and professional service. Everyone I spoke with was extremely helpful and very friendly. Once I had left, I received a phone call to say one of the documents I had submitted was the wrong form. The correct form was emailed to me to complete and send back. They answered all my questions and were very responsive to my emails. One week later I have my Spanish birth certificate. Excellent service. Thank you, to all at the consulate who dealt with me and my application.

Although we are italian citizens, we visited the Spanish embassy here in manchester. Undoubtedly the most organised, cooperative and friendly consulate with consulate officials that know what they are doing and are extremely kind. Everything we needed was done at a very satisfactory pace. Thank you to the very kind lady that helped us.

I have been waiting for a visa for 3 months now. Phoned the consulate probably over 100 times, nobody ever picks up. Only when my employer emailed them with very strong language, they respond saying that they are still waiting for the ‘central authorities’. I understand that brexit has made this process more complicated, but to take someone’s money and passport and then provide no update for 3 months? It’s unbelievable.Much of the information on the website is incorrect, and even inconsistent between the Spanish and English versions of each page. You will be given different instructions in person and by email. They say over email that the visa tracking system (sutramite; described on their website) actually does not work.I have an employer, a residence permit, an NIF - but I may eventually have to give up due to the consulate’s unending delays.
