An odd place. Definitely work in progress and if they rebuild it all no doubt will look good. Make sure you have a walk to captains seat well worth the views across the river. Let's hope the gardens can be looking their best in a few years time

Pleasantly surprised on our visit. Enjoyed our lunch from Alice's kitchen (flapjack definitely recommended). Had a lovely walk around the gardens and fairy trail. Nice to see the obvious improvements with this ongoing project. Good selection of craft stalls in the all weather hall.

How lovely is this place. Beautiful surroundings. We met a crafty grandma at the Thursday Market, her daughter serving in the cafe with delicious cakes made by her grand daughter. All lovely friendly people. Some great finds at the stalls. Get yourself there.

Came with high expectations and had them exceeded. If you're interested in the house- be warned- it's still very much a shell. The gardens however are fantastic.Beautiful walks by the river, amazing edible plants and herbs. The grounds are gorgeous.Coffee, tea and cake was lovely. If you're looking for an impressive venue you can do a hell of a lot worse!

First visit to this lovely old ruined house with interesting walks and pretty gardens. Great to know it is being restored

An interesting old 17th century hall that is in the process of being restored. The hall is all but deralict but the gardens are pretty in a wild sort of way. Teashop closed when we came in February. £4/adult seems too expensive for what is here.

Great place to visits on Thursdays when open with various events etc happening, nice woodland walk and view over the beck, small play area for children, good toilets, disabled parking, lovely walled gardens and a maze but this is still growing, The main house is sti being rebuilt but will look fantastic when completed.

I went for the craft fair. Well worth the visit as the crafts were all first class with different types of items, cards, wildlife, soaps, plants, jewellery to name a few. They change each week I understand. The gardens were not visited but the coffee and bacon butty were worth it.
