Smashing old fashioned (in a good way) pub with a brilliant atmosphere. Run by Blue Monkey Brewery, it always has a great selection of excellent real ales, their own tasty brand of flavoured fins (Christmas pudding anyone?) and all the usual fraught lager, cider etc.There’s a quiz alternating with an open Mike night on Wednesdays. Chip cobs with the quiz! They don’t cook but they do a great ploughman’s and pork pie and there’s an option to order in from a local takeaway.They have regular beer festivals. Roaring real fire in winter, what’s not to like?

It seems quite a small discreet pub, but inside is a great heart of real ales, superb food and genuine friendly people. Totally recommend to everyone x

Nice friendly Pub. It’s a bigger than normal micro pub.They have a really good selection of craft beers and more.I only stopped over in Newark for the night and I’m glad I found this place.I look forward to visiting again.

Jason the landlord is great. But the pub is slightly spoilt by an abbresive young man serving behind the bar, usually on a friday night, who picks his nose while behind the bar when he thinks nobody is looking and also gets upset and blames you when he gives you the wrong change. Arrogant and believes his own hype. One star docked in all areas for his presence in what is essentially a brilliant pub when he isn't around.

In my opinion this is the best pub in Newark. It’s always warm and welcoming with a super friendly atmosphere. The range of beers is extensive and the Blue Monkey beers are all excellent. The Infinity IPA is the standout one. Prices are good too for such top quality beers.
