Caersws Fish Bar

We were staying locally and decided to treat ourselves.We were served by a delightful young lady and had Haddock, Chips and Mushy peas. The fish was fresh and the batter crisp, the chips were crunchy and the peas were lovely. A scrumptious meal! And well priced.

Fish lovely, we felt the large portion of chips was a little small. We think keep the sizes the same and put the price up.

Great food, great price. This place was recommended to us by a family member..... So glad we acted on that recommendation.

Always liked the food . But tonight very sadly not impressed at all very greasy , over priced for what you got asked for no salt but got salt on food has lady serving was to busy talking , so new chip shop it will be in future

To summerize. Mini fish was poor. Chips were good. Curry sauce was great.

Having waited all week for the treat of fish and chips while we were on holiday, when Thursday came I popped in to get food for the family. Very friendly in the shop and I was looking forward to the food. Sadly was wholly disappointed. Daughter described her cheeseburger as the same she’d get at a football match, the sausage in batter and fish were ok but the chips were awful. Very crunchy like they’d been cooked already then fried again for my order, also very greasy. Both my wife and I didn’t feel so well overnight.Hopefully a one off, but although I look forward to returning for holiday, I won’t return to this Chippy.

Just popped in to get food as been very busy. Came out knowing we had been robbed! But desperate so excepted it though it must be good at theses prices! So So wrong dry hard chips tasted stale powdery to much dry white used or yesterday's sausage had bone or grisly bits curry sauce watered-down. Binned the lot lessons learnt!! Go to Silver Fish Newtown for free as Cearsws to Newtown and back still cheaper than buying from Caersws whatever they sell it's not for me!

Right, I love this chippy. Closest one to my house at about 3 miles away. Ordinarily a 5 star rating would suggest nothing really wrong with it. And to all intents and purposes there isn't. The quality is pretty much spot with a minimal degree of variation. The portion sizes often depend on time, queue, and even who is serving, this does make it an interesting choice to when I go. One week a large chips was the same size as regular, but it was still really good. The menu is small and very well organised. Would I like better options for the lactose intolerant? Definitely, because pretty much its a sausage, as the batter has milk in. The fish, mini fish and fish bites are really really good. The chips are literally on the edge of cooked/undercooked which when you travel home with them has them about right temp and quality to eat. Compared with what I was told when I moved here, I can definitely say I'm glad I chose to frequent this place. The younger owner definitely has his favourites and locals and can sometimes forget those who are semi regular and new to the Caersws fish bar experience but as a former chip shop chap I totally get how that happens. I will definitely still go in once a week or fortnight depending on work etc as it's only open 3 days a week currently. And if you are in the area Thursday to Saturday, give it a go, you shouldn't be disappointed at all.
