Local Eyes Walking Tours

We enjoyed our private 3 hour walking tour of the Royal Mile/Old Town with Gary! We learned (and walked) so much on our tour and Gary made sure it was entertaining. We walked from Tron Kirk, to Calton Hill, to Holyrood Palace, the new parliament building, back to the Royal mile and finally to the Signet Library for our afternoon tea. Wish we could have stayed another day in Edinburgh to explore New Town. Highly recommend this tour and this company!

Visited Edinburgh for the first time with my husband and our 12 year old daughter, and sort of a last minute thing, we considered doing a tour. Also, I'm a big fan of The Outlander novels/TV series. It has nothing to do with the gorgeous Highlander Jamie Fraser, I really like the history part! ;) I thought it would be fun to visit some of the film locations near Edinburgh. The owner (a local) of the property we were staying at recommended Local Eyes Tour. We met Chris and he showed us many of the Outlander, and some non-Outlander sites. It was super fun and will be a memorable experience for all three of us. Chris is very friendly, knowledgeable, and I have to add the rate of the tour is very reasonable for a private tour. I highly recommend Local Eyes Tour. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and I were lucky enough to be the only guests on our tour, so we got to have a very interactive experience with our guide Gary. He shared with us a great mix of stories from different eras of history, plus his own experience growing up and living in Edinburgh. I found him super engaging, funny, and intelligent. He answered all our questions expertly and helped us interpret the surrounding landscape. I was enthralled for the entire tour from beginning to finish.

Our group of 8 - 3 kids (ages 9, 11, 13), 2 parents and 3 seniors - had the most amazing experience in Scotland mostly because of Local Eyes Tours. I had a LOT of questions during my planning process, and Chris responded very timely with in-depth answers. I told him what we wanted to do and he tailored the whole trip around our needs. I am so incredibly grateful to him. Every restaurant and accommodation along the way did not disappoint! Gillian was our private walking tour guide in Edinburgh and kept us all engaged. She was enthusiastic and entertaining and tailored the tour as we went along. Moira was our 6-day private tour guide of the highlands and beyond. She treated us like family and has a heart of gold. The van was clean and spacious. Moira was on time and even stayed on a bit late to make sure we saw everything. Her knowledge of Scotland made the trip fun for us all. The small private tour was well worth the money as well! Thank you, Chris, Gillian and Moira, for making this a trip of a lifetime!!!

Amazing walking tour. My guide David was very nice and took extra time for me to take pictures etc.I ended up being the only guest on the tour and they still maintained the tour! So very special experienceI definitely recommend the “Undiscovered Edinburgh “tour. You will see places you did not expect !

Chris took my parents, husband, and I on the most incredible day tour from Edinburgh all the way to Loch Ness. We stopped at various places along the way and throughout the drive Chris generously pointed out sights and shared stories. Everywhere we went Chris kindly gave recommendations, whether it was local food to try or areas to explore.Chris met us at our hotel first thing in the morning and kept us going all day. It made for a long day, but we all had an amazing time. The four of us all agreed the day spent touring with Local Eyes was one of our favorite parts of our entire trip to Scotland. We got too see a lot of the country and be in the company of a really awesome and knowledgeable guy! Highly recommend!

Amazing walking tour of Edinburgh. Chris guided a tour for us on our last trip to Scotland in 2016. We booked Chris again this year while we were in town. We loved how he showed us parts of the city that are not on the usual tours and it helped us avoid the crowds. Chris has incredible knowledge of the city and inserts a lot of fun facts. We highly recommend Local Eyes and Chris.

We had an amazing introduction to Edinburgh with Chris P. on our family's first and long-anticipated trip to Scotland. We could not have asked for a better way to kick off our trip. Chris P. was highly knowledgeable about Edinburgh's rich history and even shared a wee dram with all of us at the end of the tour which sparked our whisky palettes for the rest of the trip. Chris the owner was so helpful with planning leading up to the trip. In the planning process, he provided a list of restaurants in Edinburgh which we referred to throughout our entire stay in the city and ate at a few spots which were outstanding. He went out of his way to help me with some of my planning. We were going on a round trip tour of the country after our stay in Edinburgh and he gave me multiple recommendations for stops on our road trip up through the Highlands. Would highly recommend Local Eyes Tours.

My children and I decided to do a day trip to Edinburgh from London. Since it was a last minute decision and we have limited time, I contacted Local Eyes Tours (thank goodness Chris replied even though it was a holiday). He gave us suggestions on how to go about the whole thing. On the day of the tour itself, he took care of everything. Chris was very knowledgeable and accommodating - there wasn’t a dull moment. He made our long train ride worth it. We will definitely come back and will contact Chris again.

We loved our drive to the Highlands with Chris! The drive in the countryside was beautiful and the many sights we visited were quite spectacular. I especially loved the variety of castles and all of the history Chris shared with us. Chris has extensive knowledge of Edinburgh and Scotland and we learned so much. Chris is friendly, knowledgeable, fun, flexible, and covered all of the details. We enjoyed our time with him a lot. We were extremely pleased with the tour and would definitely book another tour with him on a future visit.
