St John the Baptist, North Bovey

Lovely little church worth a visit, then have a coffee or drink at The Ring of Bells - rebuilt in 2017 after a fire but retaining much of charm of an older pub.

Visited in July 2017 on a very hot day. No one around. The plaque showing War Dead is striking; so many lost. The church is in excellent repair and the grounds are very well kept. A beautiful place to visit and appreciate. Go through the churchyard, via a gate at the rear, leading to a narrow lane. At the other end is a little bridge over a babbling brook.

A small church in a beautiful setting. Let yourself in through the ancient oak door. The church is filled with interesting features and character worth seeing. Pick up one of the descriptive guide pages that point out the details. Marvel at the inscriptions on the stone floor burial vaults dating back several centuries. A stop at the nearby local pub across from the church is recommended after your visit.
