Punchin' Palooka
A gorgeous cosy cocktail bar. One of the best cocktails menus I've ever come across (and I've been to my fair share of cocktail bars) but they are also flexible and happy to make any cocktail classics you like. I wanted to try one with absinthe but the one on the menu was too strong for me, so they whipped me up something off menu.Alex and Lucy were absoloutley fantastic. Alex was superb with his mixology knowledge and service, he made our experience so special. And Lucy was making some mean cocktails, woke up wanting more already!

We celebrated our engagement party by doing private hire at Punchin' Palooka and from start to finish, it was perfect. Guy and Alex were amazing to work with, helping us organise everything and making our lives 100 times easier. Everyone who works there is so friendly and lovely as well as amazing drinks, a beautiful bar (we added a few things to tie in our theme but it needs no decoration!) and being super flexible with catering options. Would highly recommend for any occasion - a few of our friends now want to book their birthday parties there!

Absolutely love everything about this bar - staff are engaging, friendly & knowledgeable. I’ve taken several dates here lately, and whilst the dates haven’t been great the cocktails always are. I’ve worked through the menu for the most part and now ask for a surprise based on what kind of thing I enjoy and they get it bang on every time.They only use top quality booze & even the glassware is unique to each drink.The only tip I’d give; book a table. Whether it’s at the bar, garden or inside you need to book on busy days. You can’t cry if you can’t get in at 7:20 on a Saturday if they’re about to fill up completely at 7:30 (but people do..) Yes, it’s crazy that you have to book just to go for a drink, but that just cements the quality of this outstanding bar.

Wonderful place! We didn’t realize you need to book as we were just visiting the area so decided to call in on the off chance they could fit us in.The guy that welcomed us (I think his name was Alex) was so friendly and happy to help, he made space for us right away and Ricky the bartender really knew his stuff.It was very busy but they still took time to chat to us and make us feel welcome.Excellent cocktails too and it gave the speakeasy style vibes we were hoping for! A must visit if in St Albans.

Fantastic every time. The bar staff are ridiculously knowledgeable and even if you've got a new drink, they're happy to accommodate. We will sorely miss this place once we move, having been here multiple times over the last few years. You find a memorable gem a few times in your life...this is it. We love it here so much.

Recently visited for the first time. 1st class cocktails. Feels classy and I love that it's table service. Definitely book a table as it gets busy. Will be back!

Punchin' Palooka
We recently hired Punchin Palooka for my 40th birthday and it was fantastic! Alex and the team were a dream and made everything so easy. They also went above and beyond by creating a personalised cocktail menu for our guests which was a really nice touch. Everyone had such a great night. I would not hesitate to recommend this venue!
