Hands down the best experience I've had with a business in as long as I can remember. Jack Gillingwater has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Polite, professional, responsive, proactive, we couldn't have asked for better. We went from thinking we're trying our luck to get a mortgage and being confused about the process to having everything explained and Jack finding us the deals that suit us. There was no pressure, no patronising, no needing to chase, just friendly help from someone who I could tell genuinely cared about his work and customer satisfaction.

Beware attempts to railroad you into buying insurance.I was initially very pleased with the service - both friendly and professional - and made a stressful and complicated process much easier. My mortgage application initially went into 'managed decline' because of a technicality and the adviser sorted it out much more quickly than i would have been able to do.My experience nose dived though towards the end of the process when the adviser attempted a bit of a hard sell of critical illness insurance. I discovered why when I read through the paper work. If I'd have taken out the insurance there was a huge commission for the adviser - several times the fee I paid for the independent mortgage advice. This undermined my trust in the independence of the advice i received about my mortgage and on the negotiation of the price of the house - as the adviser had - unbeknown to me - an incentive to get to a sale as quickly as possible for the potential of getting huge commission on an insurance sale. The adviser did not make it verbally clear that they had a financial incentive. I found much cheaper insurance online myself - not surprising since it didn't involve paying huge amounts of commission.I paid several hundred pounds for independent mortgage advice, but that independence was clouded by the attempts to profit so much from the selling of insurance.

Our first mortgage was so much easier having the help of Emma Skelly from Mortgage Advice Bureau. She went above and beyond to get us a mortgage and I couldn't recommend her enough.We started with a different mortgage advisor from another company however when Emma contacted us through an estate agents we left really impressed. Emma went through everything we didn't know, she showed us the difference between different mortgages and put so much more confidence in us.We will 100% be going back to Emma when our mortgage is ready to be reviewed!
