The survey I had undertaken prior to purchasing my 70ft narrowboat said that it would be a good idea if she was sandblasted and expoxy resin applied to the hull also that a little welding would be needed. I duly booked her in with Andy at Oxford Cruisers Ltd.I had trepidations as she is my first boat and first home, being apart from her caused some anxiety, however, Andy was absolutely brilliant, he sent video clips and photos daily of her progress. Unfortunately she needed much more welding than the survey indicated but Andy was very supportive and assured me that although it looked bad it was all repairable.She had a few other issues that weren’t in the planned works and Andy was incredibly generous with his knowledge and time in advising me on how I could resolve the issues.I am very grateful for the level of service and the standard of work carried out and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Oxford Cruisers to anyone and would definitely use them again.

Some glowing reviews here.. but none recent. Things might be going downhill...I can only relate my personal experience which is anything but generous.. sorry. I called in with a mechanical issue, I'm not one to expect everybody to drop what they're doing and fall over backwards to help but I was only asking for some advice on whether to continue and risk damage. 'Andy' was not at all interested, not even willing to listen to the issue with the engine. I understand that he couldn't personally assist and asked if I could contact an engineer in the area to check it out.. I got a lecture about, that's not how he runs his business etc.I clicked on one star simply because there are no 0 stars.

We recently used Oxford Cruisers to help us solve an ongoing problem with our canal boat. Andy and his team were very helpful, knowledgeable and re-assuring. The stern gland problem was fully evaluated and alternative solutions discussed. The work was carried out in a very professional manner with each stage being fully explained. We have worked with Andi and his team at Oxford Cruisers Ltd for the past 10 years. As an operator of commercial passenger vessels we have a wide rage of maintenance requirements ranging from complex engineering problems to cosmetic refurbishments. Andi has always been extremely helpful in meeting these various challenges and has a huge breadth of marine knowledge to draw upon. We have worked with him on projects as diverse as electric propulsion, GRP shot blasting and painting, and upkeep of an unusual water-jet drive system. His team are skilful and professional and work quickly to provide solutions within a reasonable timescale and budget. Work is completed to a very high standard. I have have no hesitation in recommending their services.

Got my narrowboat blacked. Oxford Cruisers accommodated me being late due to breaking down on the way. Their communication and attentiveness to deadlines was always perfect. They even came out to look at my engine when I broke down on the meadow around the corner. I recommend them.

Andy and everyone else at the boatyard were great - we went in for a stern gland repair and for the engine to be remounted. They went out of their way to keep us informed at all stages, and the quality of the repairs excellent. Highly recommend for this sort of work.

After a fair bit of looking and asking around, I decided to use Oxford Cruisers to put my narrowboat right. It's a friendly yard and all of the staff were extremely helpful and rendered great advice. I had my hull shot blasted and 2-pack epoxied as well as my counter plates replated, my stern gear replaced and some redundant roof apertures welded up. Whilst you can find cheaper shot blasting elsewhere, overall the quality of the work is excellent and totally worth it for piece of mind that the job has been done well. I will definitely be recommending this company in the future.

Outstanding service from Steve and Andi a couple of weeks ago. Having craned-in our new boat we were about to set off. Steve noticed a problem with the engine (no water flowing through to cool the engine) and jumped on board to take a look. The impeller had gone - which would have resulted in a VERY expensive engine fix had Steve not spotted it. Half an hour later, Andi and Steve had replaced the impeller and we were safely on our way. Amazing all round. And they didn't even laugh at my hopeless attempts to reverse out of the marina!
