The Royal George
arrived 2:30pm on thursday. the place were pretty empty. people chosen to sit outside in a sunny day. six of us sat inside. the mixed grill was ok and the steak was tough. add £1.95 to the sandwiches, you can get bowl of soup. the spicy vegetable soup and sandwiches ordered were tasty. the tandoori half chicken served with sizzling hot plate and rice, it can be better if more spicier. the sea baa salad was good. the whitebaits was good.

Food was extremely over seasoned with the soup being so peppery it was inedible. We advised the bar staff to be told that the chef had an idea she'd over seasoned the dish and it was being removed from the menu. However we were not refunded or offered compensation

It was a nice experience when we went. we took 5 of us 3 adults and 2 kids. The food was amazing, and we'll present . They was only out small party in when we where there so the service should have been 5 star and it was 5 star wen we went . We will go back again when we are next looking for a nice night out either with the kids or just adults

We have been here plenty of times in the past and always had lovely experiences. However after booking for a father’s day meal 1 week in advance and possibly having one of the worst meals and experiences, I can honestly say we wouldn’t return back to The Royal George.We had a table booked for 5:30pm, on arrival our table wasn’t ready and was still full of dirty plates and cutlery. We then queued up to pay for a carvery to be told there was no mash - but reassured everything else was there. We queued up for a carvery and could clearly see everything was limited and what was left was what I could only describe as the scraps. The beef was full of fat and not edible. The manager was rude and very unprofessional. It was obvious staff were talking unprofessionally about customers including us. It was overall a bad experience. We left feeling completely and utterly unsatisfied and robbed that we had paid so much money for such bad quality food and poor customer service.

Great place for a family get together, made welcome and the staff were great, booked on line and had good communication. Enough normal car parking but limited disabled parking, 2 spaces with all-round access and 1 with limited access. Food was good and a good selection of drinks. The only complaint we could have was that it was very warm inside without the ability to open a window to cool down.

We visit here quite often and this was our first visit since reopening, We booked our table for 2pm, we arrived a bit early but noticed that our table was taken and they had only just gone for their food so the table would not be available for our time slot, we were then shown to a table for 6 when there was only 2 of us,when at the bar ordering drinks and food we where asked which carvery we would like,small, med or large, the med included 2 meats as before but there seemed quite an increase in the price.Food wise, meal was nice, but the roast potatoes had not seen the oven, basically they were boiled potatoes, the veg, inc cauliflower cheese was very firm, not as before.The refurbish seems nice but a little disappointed overall.

Been coming here for past few months for couple of drinks as passing by. Food always smelt good so decided 2 give it a try today & go for Sunday lunch. 1 of the best carvery I've been 2 in a long while. Meat was great and fresh. Beef excellent Turkey great and not dry. Pricing great and staff excellent aswell. Ive been to a fair few carvery and drove 25min jst to try this 1 & wasn't disappointed. Booking was simple on the website and probably would recommend on a Sunday as it cam get busy and if later in evening carvery can run out as expected. Will be back for a mid week evening meal soon. Keep up the great atmosphere and standards nice good places like this becoming hard to find.

One star is excessive, they can’t cope. Made an online booking at least an hour ahead. When we arrived the waitress wasn’t sure that they could do food for us as they had a large table to cook for. After asking for clarification we were told that there would be a 20 minute wait until a food order could be placed so we asked for a coffee while we waited. Another group of about 6 people arrived and were told the same. After waiting for 15 minutes for the coffee we asked again and were told there would be at least an hour’s wait. The manager appeared and gave a very confusing explanation so we left after suggesting that the table booking system should be switched off if they have no capacity. What a waste spending all that money on a refurb. We went to a rival restaurant in Greenfield and had a great meal. The other party that had been at the Royal George arrived at the same restaurant a few minutes later. Between us we must have spent more than £200 which had been destined for the Royal George. I’m afraid this pub has lost our business for good. There are much better managed pub/restaurants in Greenfield.

Fantastic food and great service in a lovely setting. Brilliant play area for the kids at the back which is very clean and feels safe.

Visited the Royal George after the lovely makeover and sat in the re-furbished restaurant area.I was one of a party of eighteen and everyone in the party that enjoyed their various meals and said that they will return. The staff were lovely.Highly recommended.
