Dullatur Self Catering

The house was very clean and spacious and has everything you need for a home away from home. Close to beautiful walks and activities. Alan and Sandra couldnt be more helpful making sure our visit was perfect. This was our 3rd visit to Dullatur we like it so much and is always great for our dogs.

One of our best accommodation stays. A lovely modern spacious cottage built in traditional style with solid oak floors & joinery, well equipped, warm, very comfortable and central location in town . Sandra is helpful, friendly and lives nearby.

Just returned from a 2 night stay with our 4 children and we had an incredible time!Dullatur is spacious, warm and had the comfiest beds! It allowed us to time to relax and reconnect as a family but with the space for us all to have our own privacy.The kids loved the snug, watching movies downstairs which gave me & my husband some much needed time upstairs.Loch Imrich right on the doorstep is a lovely little walk which is accessible to all with very friendly ducks that feed out of your hands.The tennis courts opposite are available to use from 8am - 10:30pm and Alan & Sandra have lots of varying tennis racquets and balls for you to use over there. We were over there every spare minute we got!Alan & Sandra are brilliant hosts, quick to reply to e-mails with any queries and on hand if you need them. They went the extra mile for us installing stair gates and putting in a high chair off their own backs for our one year old which was such a lovely surprise and made our stay even easier.Dullatur is in a very convenient place for local cafes and the co-op is a one minute walk from the house. Despite it being so central it is very quiet with only the occasional friendly dog walker walking by.We look forward to staying at Dullatur again soon!

We had a lovely holiday, house was very clean and very well equipped! Alan & Sandra were very welcoming & also let us know about events happening locally during our stay. The kids loved the fact that they could play tennis and bowls, for free, whenever they liked so they were never bored.

We had a lovely stay in Newtonmore. The village is great and our family especially loved the Wildcat Experience where you hunt for decorated wildcats hidden all around the village. The house is in a great location for exploring the village and is right opposite the tennis courts which you can book for free as a guest there. The house had all that we needed for our stay. We had stayed there previously and had no issues whatsoever so were happy to book again. Sadly, we won't stay there again.Due to Covid, we had to be out of the house by 9am so it could be cleaned before the next set of guests arrived at 5pm. There was no flexibility in that but we made sure we were out in time and we arranged to have breakfast at a nearby cafe to facilitate getting out of the house so early. Before we left we stripped all the beds, wiped down the kitchen surfaces, emptied the dishwasher and emptied the kitchen bin. We felt this was plenty and is all we ever do in any of the holiday rentals we have used over the years, including post pandemic.After we left we got an email from the owner saying they were taking £40 off our security deposit as they felt we hadn't cleaned the house adequately. We were accused of wearing shoes around the house (we hadn't) and they were unhappy that we hadn't cleaned the underside of the kitchen basin and that some dirt had moved from the entrance mat onto the floor beside it. They were also unhappy that we hadn't emptied every bin in every room in the house. With the house being empty for 8 hours between rentals there is plenty of time for their cleaner to tackle these jobs. We were on holiday after all and didn't feel it was OUR job to clean the house at the end of the stay. That's part of what the fee we have paid for. The fact that they request a security deposit should have been a warning sign to us. No other owner has ever asked for a deposit and no one has ever complained about a house needing a full clean. That's what is expected by owners and guests alike. The owners of Dullatur clearly have very different expectations. Despite a nice week away this left a bitter taste in our mouth and we would never stay there again as a result. A holiday should be just that and pressure should not be put on guests to keep the house exactly as they found it and clean it themselves. We didn't damage the property in any way. We would go back to Newtonmore but will stay elsewhere anytime.

Our family stayed in Dullatur over the September weekend. Sandra and Alan were extremely helpful before arrival, offering advice on the local area and activities we would do with our daughter. They were very welcoming on arrival also.The house itself is perfectly located in the village, and has all the modern amenities to make the stay comfortable. There is a tennis court adjacent to the property which you can access for free. The house backs onto Loch Imrich which offers a delightful walk and duck feeding opportunities.This was the perfect place for a highland get away and we would certainly return.Thanks again to Sandra and Alan for a great stay!

Beautiful house in a beautiful location! We have holidayed in Newtonmore for over 30 years, and we love the village, but this was our first time staying at Dullatur. What can I say, it was like a home from home. The house was lovely, clean and spacious......the games room a hit with my teenage boys when they needed their own space! Everything you can ever think that you would need is on hand, and the beds are super comfy. Alan and Sandra are amazing hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We've already booked for next year!
