I put my car in yesterday for its MOT. Whilst my car was in it failed. My car was in the shop from 8.30 until 5.45. I was called at around 12 to say that car had failed its MOT and had also ran out of petrol (my light had only come on at the lights before turning into the industrial estate where the garage is based meaning my car still had 20-25 miles on it) I knew I needed petrol but assumed that it would be enough. Whilst on the phone the receptionist told me that someone would need to go and get petrol and that I would be charged half an hours labour for that which was £37.50. At no point was I informed that I could have done it myself and saved myself money in doing so. I was charged £24 (£4 tax) for the petrol and once I got my car back there was 31 miles in it and my light was back on by the time I had gotten to Auchinairn roundabout. I asked for a receipt before leaving the business which they had already closed and was shouted at across the road “it’s on your invoice” I wanted proof that £20 was put in the car they couldn’t provide that. I was also charged £62.50 for a set of new wipers which I have no been informed I could have gotten myself at no point did anyone discuss with me that I could have done these things I could have saved myself money which would have come in handy at this time of year. I was told my car would be ready for 5/5.30 so we drove over for 5 and whilst sitting there witnessed my tyres NEW tyres being looked after very carelessly when being taken off and put back on. “We will need to put petrol in but you’ll be charged half an hours labour” the “but” in there did not indicate to me that I could put my own petrol in which was the boss man’s defence this morning after asking his receptionist if she had told me to which her reply was no. When we got there the card machine was just thrown my way before anything on the paper work was explained to me the paperwork most definitely should have been shown to me first but you could tell they just wanted up the road. Phoned up this morning to query this and was met with un professionalism, I was actually laughed at a couple of times and there was just generally a very rude overtone to the whole conversation. I then put £30 in car and got what’s in the pictures below. There’s no way £20 was put in the car I had barely even made it home . I will be in contact today with trading standards to follow up on this.

I’ve been using Semtech for over 15 years. To put in perspective I’ve moved house so no longer local but still travel the distance to use this garage. The team have helped me countless times, even on a moments notice. Nothing is ever a hassle. Always professional, helpful, friendly and will go out their way for anyone. Seriously, don’t go anywhere else. Highly recommended.

Wife took my car to Semtech for simple repair of a fuel cap button fix and got it back with damaged paintwork around the corners. After showing them the before and after photos of the car they refuse to accept responsibility and deny it was them.

I could not recommend these guys more. My car was in multiple garages for 5 and a half weeks, 4 different mechanics refused to touch my car as it was too much of a job. Was told there was a leak in the exhaust manifold and it would be difficult to find a mechanic who would take the job on.I got in contact with Arnold Clark who highly recommended Semtech as they use them for exhaust repairs. called Semtech and was given an appointment a couple of days later (would have even sooner if it wasn’t for my work commitments). Dropped the car off on the Thursday night just before closing time, got a phone call on friday morning to advise they found the leak in the manifold, it wouldn’t be a straightforward job as previously told, however they aimed to have the car back to me by the Wednesday. Early Wednesday I got a call to say my car was completely repaired and ready to be collected, and at a fraction of the price I was previously estimated.The team are amazing at communicating, very friendly, knowledgable, quick and efficient. Will 100% be using Semtech as a regular garage from now on, and I will not be slow in recommending this team to other people. Can see why they have such good feedback online and from other big brands such as Arnold Clark.Special thank you to Connor who was the mechanic who fixed the car, also Alison the receptionist who is extremely friendly and helpful.

Where to start? A fantastic group of mechanics where service is a priority. Very reasonable charges and they often go above and beyond- in my own case often with no charge. I’ve had no hesitation in recommending them to many people.

I must admit I am a wee bit biased. We’ve been going there for years and years.I put my Jaguar in for its Major Service, it’s MOT, check over the battery, and a slow leak in a tyre. Got it back with everything done. Full service and report on all points checked off. Passed its MOT, with full report, no advisories. The battery had needed charging a few days past, and was the original battery on the car, so I fully expected it needed replacing, which it was, again full report on the old battery. The tyre needed a new tyre valve, which had to be reprogrammed to the tyre pressure system.All in all, an excellent service, especially so as I know they are very busy this time of year in particular - they are pretty busy all year round.As always, I take my cars and my wife’s cars to Semtech, as I know they will do a proper job.Excellent service.

Always a great service, can never do enough to help you and will go out their way to fit you in if they can. Would highly recommend to everyone. 10 out of 10 every time I have used them over the past 5 years
