We booked a table for 2 for a Sunday roast after a cycle in the area & we were so impressed with the quality of the food, the service from start to finish & the general charm of the pub! The chefs happily adapted the dish to my partners allergy & dietary requirements without any issue too.We are so fussy when it comes to roast dinners, this has got to have been the best we’ve ever eaten out, by far. Would highly recommend!

Booked a table for two for my husband's birthday. We hadn't been here for over 30 years and unsurprisingly the inside had changed quite a bit and the place has been extended, all sympathetically done and none of the charm lost. The garden outside looked lovely too. It's not a vast menu, but that is often a good thing as the dishes are cooked expertly. My husband had steak and I had fish and chips, followed by orange and almond polenta cake. My husband is very critical of his steak and he enthused over this one which was locally sourced and perfectly cooked. Fish was also cooked beautifully with light crunchy batter, gorgeous chunky chips. The dessert was just perfect and a generous portion. The lady serving us was really pleasant, making time to chat and seemed genuinly pleased that we enjoyed our meal. It was also good value. We will certainly return.

A very good pub, restaurant with a handful of rooms out back.Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. Of choice I'd choose a room upstairs to avoid the noise of creaking floors from beneath. Rooms open onto courtyard beer garden so don't expect a quiet early night. We enjoyed evening meals and choice of breakfast, very nice too.

We had a recent stay in the area and having been let down by a poor restaurant menu where we were staying (I am gluten intolerant) we Googled the closest pub and up came The Selsey Arms. We enjoyed a delicious meal here two evenings running, going back the second night having enjoyed the first so much. I had a pick of several gluten free options, including proper fish and chips, fried in a separate fryer. The second night I had a wonderful game bourginon, which my husband had had the night before. The welcome we received was very friendly and eating in the bar the second night we felt almost like locals! We would definitely go back if in the area.

My wife and I stayed for just one night. The whole experience was superb. We had a warm welcome when we arrived. A really comfortable room with bath and shower over. Good beers and an excellent evening meal. Breakfast was equally good.West Dean is such a beautiful village. I lived there in the early 70s and it was great to see the gardens, the church and my old school again. Thanks to all at the Selsey Arms...not least of all that cute labrador :)

Stayed here with my wife after attending a wedding down the road. I'd never visited the area before but I was very impressed with this boozer. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff, the beers were good, and the food was excellent. We had their version of ham, egg and chips and it was pretty special. Breakfast was also very good and included in the price - maybe I've stayed in too many hotel chains that don't do that, but it's always something I appreciate. As a base to explore the local area, you'd be hard pressed to find somewhere better. Who doesn't love staying at a pub anyway?

Comfortable stay and a very short distance from Chichester. Parking on site and good breakfast choices served in a light, airy conservatory.
