Thurston Station

Interesting station with the original building intact but out of use.You enter through the old goods yard, faced with a level crossing and a good vantage point for any spotters.(Trespassers are tossers, do NOT walk on the track).The station serves passengers for Cambridge and Ipswich. (at both of these destinations you can change for trains to London)The station also serves stowmarket for those going towards Norwich.The crossing is monitored 24/7 and has audible and visual alarms/lights.The station has a full P.A built in which works well and plenty of benches. Information screens are also on each platform.For food and drink there is a co-op adjacent as well as an independent coffee shop and a takeaway.There's also the Fox and Hounds pub 30 seconds - 1 min walk which serves an exceptional range of cask ales, along with the usual fare of lagers, spirits and wines and traditional pub grub.
