I received surgery recently for a detached retina. The care I received was exemplary.

This appointment system is total and utter rubbish. My husband has had a cateract operation and has been back to see the surgeon once since. He then went to the opticians for a new prescription she referred him back to the hospital we then got a phone call asking us to go in on the 11th September we went and was told to not keep the appointment for the 13th September. We were supposed to come back within the next week. We received a letter this morning saying because we had cancelled 2 appointments we were off their list. We only cancelled the 27th September because we would be out of the country. So a new appointment was made for the 26th September. The whole system of appointments us a farce. Someone has seriously made a mistake. If it costs my husband his eyesight there will be repercussions. By the way we waited almost 5 hours on the 11th September

Ward J25 ophthalmology took care of me on Tuesday this week when I had cataract surgery. I felt the need to write a review singing their praises. First time experience for me. Relaxing atmosphere in the waiting area for the patients, almost cafe-like while the nurses administered the numerous pre-op drops. Chatting the hours away with one another exchanging past experiences. Good long wait for me as I was further down the theatre list for the afternoon but it was very relaxing. The procedure itself was totally painless and the staff right through to the surgeon were so informative every step of the way. It's such a refreshing change to be able to sing the praises of the NHS but on this occasion it is truly warranted. Whatever the outcome for my eye, as it's early days yet, I cannot fault the welcome, the atmosphere and the surgery. Thank you to all in this ward.

We’re really impressed by the Eye Dept since they moved to the Gledhow Wing. A nice relaxed ambience, helpful and efficient staff and up-to-date diagnostic equipment. Such an improvement.

Went to the eye clinic after a sudden influx of floaters and pains in my eye... the staff were very nice I have to say, but I'm disgusted by the level of standards. The ophthalmologist looked at my eye, saw a small tear, got a second opinion and told me to carry on as normal. They said it wasn't even an abnornality. If you see dark spots or black
