Dunkery Beacon - Parking
Really nice walk in Exmoor. Not a huge amount of parking but was enough for those who came for a weekday walk in the countryside. We followed the path left to crest a triangle to do a loop round to the top of the beacon and back. Rocky paths which were easy enough and didn’t need specialist shoes but I would imagine in the rain you would want boots. Lots of sheep and cow manure and flies. Heather looked great and weather was really good. Recommend doing this walk if you want an nice easy walk to a good viewpoint. Good route for walking dogs as well.

Very nice walk in the summer with great views from the top on a clear day. BUT don't try it in the winter months when wet as it is often very slippery in places, particularly when walking down - be warned.

This is a small car park with space for around 10 cars. We arrived early and managed to find a suitable space. The car park was full when we returned from the beacon. There is a layby a few yards up the road, and some other places to park along the road, so if this is full, keep going.I expect most visitors will be walking to Dunkery Beacon and will likely be away from their cars for at least an hour. However it is easy to see people coming down the hill so you could take a chance and wait.

Loved it. National Trust. Car Park. Fees apply. Or National Trust Members card. Very greatful for the cool wooded waterside path, meeting our Ultra Challenge walker and seeing many others too.

Only room for a handful of cars, and no facilities, but a very pretty spot with a lovely wooded-over stream and a 15-minute walk gets you to the top of the world. The Beacon is wild and windy, with endless 360 degree views and a large permanent cairn.
