I have been coming here for years as it’s a great middle meeting point for me and my friend. Today I came in with family for my birthday and we were looked after really well by Karina. Thank you!

We visited with 2 young children for lunch and overall enjoyed our visit, albeit with a few issues. The pub is a lovely old building and was warm, cosy and welcoming with log fires. There were some decent real ales on tap. Parking outside is free (remember to register your number plate on arrival though to avoid a ticket). It has a 5/5 food hygiene rating. The food was generally good, and a separate vegan menu was available which was appreciated. Service was a little slow but friendly. The kids had fish and chips but unfortunately this was basically a mass of batter with little fish inside - they left most of it. The adult fish and chips was better but still very light on the fish I felt. Also, the skin was left on the battered fish which is not my personal preference - I accept some people don't mind this but I always end up scraping it off along with half of the batter! The sea bass dish was well cooked. There was a good 'coffee + mini dessert' option. The atmosphere was pleasant and cosy. It's clearly a dog friendly pub - there were at least 3 in when we were there, thankfully with considerate owners.Overall we would return but would probably order different dishes.

Visiting friends who live near here and taken for dinner, booked for 8pm on a Saturday. Greeted at the door, shown to a nice table in the restaurant area; so far so good. After studying the menu for about 10 minutes, a waitress arrived to ask: “Has anyone told you what we haven’t got?”, which turned out to be about 40% of the menu and most of the options that we had already decided upon. We therefore said that we needed more time to decide.Eventually we ordered four starters, four mains and two bottles of wine (red and white). Upon bringing the white wine, the waitress at least realised that it wasn’t chilled enough and said she would get some ice. Unfortunately, she returned with the ice in a metal cooler with the bottle protruding from the top. After leaving it for us to pour, we realised that it was little less than room temperature and therefore asked another waitress to replace it. Before it was returned, our starters arrived. The interval between ordering and their arrival was far too short for them to have been freshly prepared, and we had almost finished them before our white wine returned (at a just about acceptable temperature). My creamy mushroom starter was okay, albeit a little bland. My crab and chorizo linguine was tasty, but a little overpowered by the amount of chorizo. Neither would have been my first or second choices. We ate, we paid, and we even left a tip (because the waitresses were pretty friendly), but this was a poor experience. This place is an historic coaching inn, in a great location, with a lovely outdoor seating area. To brand themselves as a gastropub, however, they need to manage food & wine stocks better and ensure that they have sufficient, suitably-trained staff. The prices were far too high for the services we received.

The pub is excellent as well as the food. Was let duran on this occasion by the live music. The guy wasn't a great singer and way too loud for the the venue. No wonder so many people complained and left.

Halloween Brunch with the kids was great. Thank you to Sarah and Amber for thoroughly entertaining the kids and letting me enjoy a coffee and breakfast!

An amazing pub, with great service and a really homely vibe.It is slightly on the expensive side, but it serves really decent food and had a nice warm fire to warm you up after a walk in the countryside. We had a couple of plates instead of main meals and this was a perfect amount of food. There’s a small short-stay car park just around the corner, and it’s not far from the train station.

The food here is exceptional. They do have a dedicated vegan menu but you need to ask for it. I can't convey how gorgeous, tasty and well presented the food was but very pricey (reason below). We both chose the sweet potato and chestnut roast off the festive menu and the Billonaire Bar off the vegan menu. Despite the food being incredible I have only given it 4 stars as their were a few disappointments which could have been easily avoided. We asked for vegan gravy and was told there wasn't any. The biggest reason for a missing star is that as a vegan you cannot take advantage of the Festive 3 Course Meal for £30 as they do not provide a desert. There is only one starter option (soup) and one main course (which was very nice - see photo). I did raise this to the waitress who provided no solution. This meant we paid £20 each for just a main course. I don't know if it is possible to have a dessert from the vegan menu and it be included in the deal but I felt the oversight of the festive menu for vegans deserved 1 star deducting.

We came in for a family birthday meal, and we had a great time. The beer was tasty and you could tell this pub actually cleans the lines properly, which is always a big bonus. The food was great we had quite a selection between us, some Christmas menu some not. Everyone really enjoyed the food and no one said anything was bad. I myself had a turkey dinner and it was great. The scallops for starters were out of this world, very very good. A 10/10 for food, will be back for more!

The food was fantastic and the wine list was very good. We drove past this pub so many times and finally visited for lunch while we were in the area. We'll be back!
