Lovely Gallery, a welcome addition to St Albans. Good clean space and interesting artwork of a high standard. Samantha, the curator, is friendly and approachable.

Nude Tin Can is an exclusive little gallery and very stylish. The art is high class and the hospitality is fabulous. A 'must see' if you are in St Albans. In fact, make a special trip to visit it.

I love this gallery. I have bought several pieces over the past few years. Most recently this week...a Bauhaus inspired commissioned painting. Love it in my retro style living room !

As a professional full time artist I do not recommend any kind of collaboration with this gallery. They have damaged my 10.000 euros worth artworks and never wanted to resolve it in a proper way despite our contract. They were offering ridiculous compensation for my materials. They were always very rude, abusive and very aggressive. It is the same gallery that have sold many artworks of my fellow artist and never paid her, avoiding her calls and emails for months. It is the same gallery that have ruined a 5000 £ worth sculpture of another fellow artist and never tried to resolve the situation with her...I believe there are more artists with similar experience. Scenario is repeating... It takes months to overcome this behavior of someone you believed they were professionals who loved their job and your art. Take care artists...The worth of 10.000 euros, more precisely 9.450 euros came 6 months before the damage occurred when the gallery made and sent the contract to me to sign it, while they were happy to show them in the gallery for that price and eventually take big commission; the artworks they have seen on my website with all details including prices. I asked the owner if she was sure she wanted those artworks because of their high cost and she said they would be perfect for her clients and that she will sell them fast... But when the damage happened, suddenly the owner decided that my work has no worth... They suggested me that I repair them because of THE HIGH COST, so certainly we are not talking about 50 £. Also, a gallerist should know that once piece is damaged, it can not be sold for it's full price. It wasn't the fault of the courier, the damage occurred because of very unprofessional handling and packaging by the gallery, scenario that it seems is repeating often. This wouldn't be so stressful situation if the gallerist was kind and wanted to resolve the situation... She was very rude and abusive, very disrespectful, insulting my art and me. It wouldn't be so stressful if this happened just to me... Galleries should respect their artists, because they are depending on them. Once they loose artists, they will have to close the doors of their gallery-unless they become artists themselves.

Went for a life drawing class. Teacher didn't introduce herself and didn't bother to find out my name. Little tuition or feedback and even told to do what I want. I learnt nothing but did get a cup of tea made for me. Wouldn't go back

This is a beautiful space, and when I was there they had surrealist and abstract expressionist canvasses, could have stayed there for hours. Maybe I did. Also worth mentioning is the charming Hatty. I think if I was a painter, I'd want Hatty as my agent. V. refreshing to have a gallery like this in St. Albans,

We received a donation to enhance our volunteers' workspace and Hatty at Nude Tin Can was incredibly helpful in suggesting suitable pieces to lift our spirits after a difficult shift. Thanks Hatty and keep up the good work.Stuart S, SW Herts Samaritans

Hattie runs a fabulous gallery and her drawing classes are a joy. She helps her students in a very sensitive way. I've rediscovered my love of life drawing here. So if you're interested in learning to draw or paint, I couldn't recommend her more.

I signed up for the Life Drawing Class. I'd been to one life drawing class before, which was untutored, so wasn't a complete first timer, but not far off.I found the organisation, intimacy of the setting, friendliness of everyone involved and tutoring to be first rate.I even missed a couple of classes in the series due to holiday, and Hetty went out of her way to allow me to join other sessions.Because you leave each week with your drawings, it's impossible not to notice the improvement made week on week from just a couple of hours.I will be back again, and have encouraged Hetty to see if she can put on a Portraiture class as well.Totally recommend it to everyone, regardless of your level.

Hatty de Barnard has taken a leap of faith in locating her gallery in a less obvious part of St Albans, but her creative panache and courageous choice of art should inspire the local sophisticates to explore her portfolio a little deeper.St Albans needs a more diverse art scene, and Nude Tin Can Gallery challenges the safe norms, injecting a diversity that is both fascinating and refreshing.
