Stockport Register Office

There are real issues with this service when registering births and deaths.My father passed away suddenly 10 days ago and we are still waiting for an appointment to get the certificate. The legal requirement is to register a death within 5 days but this is impossible due to a lack of appointments. This has really added to the stress during an awful time and has made it impossible to comply with the legal time frames and to start to deal with financial affairs. This could cause real financial issues for many families.My daughter is 7 weeks old and is also still unregistered due to a lack of appointments. We had to rearrange one due to my father's illness and they didn't have any others for 4 weeks. The staff are friendly on the phones but there is nothing they can do to help.

Fantastic service.bit of advice for all the moaners and whingers.check things like bus times that stop 50 yards from the door or leave earlier so you can find somewhere to park or research the area and where you can park and what is the cost so you have the right money.simple things.i mean if you won the lottery and was due to pick up £1000000 pounds and you had to be there at 10am on the dot you would do all the above.just laziness and lack of responsibility.

I got married in the Robert Hyde room and it was a great ceremony. We were able to customise it to our expectations and the registrar officers holding our ceremony were lovely.4 stars as it was very difficult to get hold of someone to actually book our wedding which was due to the increased demand after Covid.

The people who work there are very helpful and friendly. We are planning a wedding, it's been totally stress free.

Told to arrive prompt in email for appointment to register Mums death. They were over 20 mins late! Unfriendly service for grieving family members. Not an experience I would like to go through again.

My son got married at the registry office recently. The service could not have been better, the people conducting it were absolutely lovely to us and made it a very personal and happy service. They were also very helpful with parking and my mother-in-law, who suffers from dementia - a huge thanks to them.

Trying to register birth of my baby arrived 10 mins late as no parking and eventually had to pay a fortune in an NCP.Then snotty lady at desk kept saying my wife hadn't booked an appointment. Kept me talking for 4mins then when finally found my wifes appointment she says 'Your more than 10 mins late now we can't see you.'Unbelievable.

I went with my 5 week old and they did not register the birth for being 10min" late with a 5 week old and no near by parking.Literally there was no one waiting so it was not like it was crowded.On the next appointment

They never pick calls, only if you are very lucky
