The room and refurbishments are fine. But staff is quite terrible. Cleaning staff frequently skip days. Despite claimed to make weekday daily cleans, they probably only work 3or4 days a weekday. And some are very unfriendly on students. Guy at reception suppose to allocate parcels.Once I found amazon saying arrival but they didnt put note in mailbox, I asked and they said none. I looked at mailroom myself and things are just there. This happened more than once on more than just me.ONLY live here if you want a BUDGET choice close to uni nearby!Edit 1: during the stay, there was an hot water outage, lasted for 2 weeks, without hotwater. Management promised £100 voucher for amazon, not just me, didn't received it what so ever. And no, it is not in spam. Plus, after the southern housing aquisition, e-mail response become slow and iresponsible, there were insects at basement kitchen bins and no action were taken. After the raised price for the rent, I would advise anyone away from staying here.

Avoid this place at all costs. The living facilities vary from floor to floor. The pictures in no way show how awful the shared living accommodation is on the floors higher up. The kitchen sink is covered in limescale and the taps would fall off it it wasn't there. The whole kitchen is so old and dated. Despite complaints to Southern Housing, and them admitting false advertising, as I am the parent, paying for the accommodation, I have no recourse to the Housing Ombudsman. It's completely disgusting. Stay away! If I could give this negative stars I would.

Have lived here since September 2022. Staff are all extremely rude and unprofessional. Especially Francis at the front desk. Had a delivery come in a few times and he sent the driver back. Furthermore, there have been students whose parcels went missing. Moving onto the worse parts, the cleaners do not do their job properly. They only change toilet paper once every few days, not even bothering to clean the toilet and the bin in my kitchen hasn't been emptied in over a week. It is overflowing with rubbish. Do not recommend to live here. The company tries to squeeze as much orofit as possible out of students and gives back minimum effort. They even lied to get me to sign my contract, saying that communal areas like kitchens and bathrooms are cleaned daily. This is a complete lie. Do not live here you will feel disgusting every day.

The accommodation used to be expensive but okay considering the quality of the staff and prime location. Issues with the building were plenty like broken lifts, hot water, etc, but were fixed quickly. But after the last building manager left it's been completely subpar. The building is almost completely unmanned with the new building manager being absent for almost 3-4 weeks straight on most days of the week. The concierge guys who are the only ones here 24/7 don't have the ability to authorise a lot of things that residents need like negotiating contracts, etc. On the few days there's a manager in they in meetings with upper management" the entire day. Upper management is completely understaffing and overburdening the team on the ground and it is acutely felt."

Highly recommendBest location-across the street of the British MuseumWarm staff & Safe security-only open the gate by scanning room card and check by front desk. They will try their best to make you feel at homeNew decoration-totally new decoration, with windows to prevent noise from outside. HGH has laundry room, kitchen, study room and lounge.Great choice for students

I lived here last year 2022-23 and it is true that it was kind of a mess since the company changed half throughout the year. However, now on this year 2023-24, it is clear that the new those problems got solved. The new management team is organizing a lot of events and they are very helpful. The cleaning has also improved since last year, so overall it is very nice.

Avoid this place at all costs. They don’t provide basic services, cleaning is not something you’ll see around this place, things are constantly broken for lack of maintenance, staff is rude and unhelpful- and the management doesn’t do anything about any of it (they like to make excuses and blame residents for their poor management of the place though). Some examples:There hasn’t been cleaning on the floor I live for an entire week now. Three toilets are clogged and literally full of feces, smelling and all, there isn’t toilet paper nor hand soap in any of the other toilets, shower and bath rooms have hair and dirt accumulated. This is not an isolated case, they do leave the place without cleaning constantly. In April, they left us without hot water and heating for seven days. No efficient communication about what was happening or when it would be fixed either. Other things are constantly broken for long times too: lifts, lights, showers, fridge etc.On my first week here, maintenance entered my room (I wasn’t there) and left the door completely open. Not simply unlocked, open for anyone who would want to enter and take my things.I’m constantly anxious about living here, just waiting for the next issue or wondering if I will be able to get home, simply take a shower and rest.

I am absolutely livid! I can't believe the utter disregard for basic human needs that this housing facility has displayed. My friend has been living there for a while now, and the past week has been an absolute nightmare. With the cold temperatures in London, it's absolutely unacceptable for a housing facility to not provide hot water and central heating. But that's exactly what's been happening! My friend and all the other residents have been complaining to the management, but it seems like their complaints have fallen on deaf ears. It's been over a week and still no action has been taken to fix the situation. I mean, how hard can it be to provide basic living conditions for your residents? It's absolutely absurd that they can't even get that right. To add insult to injury, most of the residents are students who are already dealing with the stresses of academic life. It's completely inconvenient for them to have to deal with a housing facility that can't even provide hot water and central heating. How are they supposed to focus on their studies when they're freezing cold and can't even take a proper shower? It's a total disgrace!I urge everyone to avoid this housing facility at all costs. It's not worth the hassle and frustration of dealing with a management team that clearly doesn't care about the well-being of their residents. Save yourself the trouble and find a better place to live. Don't make the same mistake my friend did.

Don’t live here! Lived here for two years with a management change midway through. One month before my tenancy ended staff got access to my room and ‘threw away’ various expensive items in the clearing process and have had a few other items of value disappear from behind a locked door over the last year. Not only this but since Southern Housing has taken over this year standards have really gone downhill with majority of the decent staff leaving due to poor management. Kitchens and bathrooms and constantly filthy and unliveable, little to no storage available in the kitchens and fridge and freezer rooms in the basement often break.

I have lived here since April 2018 and I very happy here. The location is amazing: I go almost everywhere walking and save a lot of money! All the main buses and tibe lines are less than 10 minutes away. You can have a room facing the busy street of the British Museum or one that faces the other side, which is quieter in the morning. I have always enjoyed urban noise, so my room facing Great Russell Street is honestly a great experience. Here I have always shared rooms and it's been very enjoyable. The rooms are big and bright. The furniture and carpet are new. The common facilities are cleanes everyday and you can always report anything you are not comfortable with. (Although I never had to complain about anything). Staff is the best thing at HGH, from maintanance staff to managers. All staff are kind, mindful, smiley and ready to talk with you. In spite of the busy work that they deal with everyday, managers and administrative staff always did their best to assist any queries I had. I know most of them and it really feel like a family.
