I've been coming to Colin for drum lessons here for nearly 2 years now and have seen definite improvement in my playing. Colin is patient and adaptable teacher who can teach a wide range if playing styles and communicate theory very effectively even to someone like me who has struggled with understanding it for years prior to now.His rate is also very reasonable and I would definitely recommend him if you want to start playing the drums or want to get more into it.

At the age of 49 and with no knowledge of drumming, I decided it's not too late and plucked up the courage to learn drums.Colin was recommended to me by local musicians because of his popularity as a band member and his wealth of experience.Colin is a very patient, positive and encouraging tutor. His knowledge, along with his ability to pass on techniques has made learning enjoyable and motivating in a short period of time.I highly recommend Colin to any age group considering taking up drums or brushing up on skills.

Since a very young age ,our daughter has shown a keen interest in music .Having an ambition to one day be able to play an instrument herself. However, with having ADHD and ASD ,it was something she thought would not be possible .She struggles massively with concentration and was unable to read sheet music,no matter how many times she tried .We found Colin through Google and spoke to him regarding her trying a lesson,to see how she managed....and have not looked back since. In just a few short months she is able to read some sheet music and play basic rhythms. This man has the patience of a Saint and his tutoring has not only enabled her to follow her dream ,but it's also given her so much confidence in her every day life .As a parent, I could not recommend Colin at RockBeats enough ,his dedication and ability to adapt his teaching to each student is second to none

Colin is a great tutor, his way of teaching is the best I’ve come across, out of a handful of local teachers so far, Colin’s ability to adapt lessons to suit the style and needs of each student is something I’m sure not many other tutors do better. weather it’s exams or playing for fun whilst jamming out your favourite songs, Colin covers all bases, he’s improved drastically my confidence and technique in less than 6 months and would recommend to anyone looking to refine their skills behind the kit!! He’s also great value and flexible too.

I was thinking today about some of the people who’ve shaped my life and Colin is an instrumental person who has been an incredible teacher and role model to me.I think a lot about his teaching style and how excited I was about every lesson. I try to emulate much of his style when managing and leading teams today.I started learning drums with Colin at 12 years old, ended up getting into one of the most sought after music universities (even after attending this university, Colin is still my fave teacher!!) as a result and now I'm the CEO of a 200+ person business. I owe much of my success to the lessons and behaviors Colin instilled in me as a young boy.Id highly recommend Colin to anyone who's looking for a world class teacher, who cares deeply about his students and makes learning fun!

I have been learning to play the drums since February with Colin and would highly recommend to anyone, not just from my own experience but from seeing first hand the progress of his other students too. Learning with Colin has also provided the rare opportunity of having the chance to play in a band, on stage, in front of a crowd, as part of his annual student showcase, providing the opportunity for those who want it and have progressed enough. This also includes the chance to practice in a professional studio environment as well. Colin is very attentive to your input and feedback into the teaching process. I often request specific songs or ask for a different example when I'm learning a specific technique, since this just helps me to learn when I know or enjoy the song. Colin explains things where I don't get it first time and is very patient with my mistakes! He's also great at adapting the approach to try things a different way too.

I have known Colin for 10 years and his lessons are fantastic. He always pushes me to get the best out of myself, he always encourages me to carry on when I'm tired, he is one of the best drummers and tutors that I know. I highly recommend to have lessons.

My husband bought me drumming lessons (with Colin from Rock Beats) about 18 months ago as a Christmas present. I'd never even thought about drumming before, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!Colin is very patient with me, his teaching skills are great and he's always very encouraging. I love my weekly lessons, but the highlight so far has been the experience of playing on a stage, with a live band at the Waterloo music bar - never, ever thought I would do anything like that!I'm one the old ones (60+), but seeing someone as young as 6 years old performing on stage, with so much talent, was amazing. It gives me something to aspire to :-) His dedication to his students and the encouragement he gives to all of us, was plain to see on the night.Colin is one of life's genuine good guys - I would recommend him to anyone.Maxine Baker

Colin has taught 2 of my daughters over many years to play the drums. His approach when they were young was excellent and his calm and relaxed way really helped them. Perfect for anyone wanting to start to play the drums with zero knowledge.Since then both have become great drummers and with a combination of learning fun songs along with exam tuition it is a great approach to keep them progressing and interested. Highlight was a live performance with a band in a local pub which was an amazing opportunity to get the feel of performing live to an audience.I've even picked up a few drum skills too.
