Birdforth Hall Holiday Cottages

Fabulous place, this little complex has for 'cottages' but they are huge. We stayed in the Granary for a week and it was lovely, the rooms are well decorated and furnished nicely, the kitchen is well stocked and if was very warm. So warm in fact we rarely used the log burner in the living room.The pool is not huge, but there is a rota so you get it to yourself.The supermarkets deliver here too so you don't need to load your car up with shopping.

Amazing place. So serene. Love the grounds. A few suggestions...... (STABLES), Bigger TV, a doorway access to the rear of the property instead of only having one door to the front. An outdoor canopy area at the back. A bigger fridge freezer - as weekend for 11 people, the current fridge is a tad small.

Beautiful property, peaceful surroundings and helpful and attentive hosts. Fantastic for families of all ages with swimming pool, table tennis and pool table. Plenty of safe outdoor space for children to play. Great for large family groups. Would definitely recommend.

This is a place of great fabulousness!! It has new owners who are extremely welcoming and have made every effort to ensure a comfortable, clean and happy stay. It is excellent value for money.We stayed in The Granary that is exceptionally well equipped for all self catering needs. The interior has a modern farmhouse feel and the hosts provided most everything that would enable a comfortable holiday. There is an abundance of space, so our group of 2 families and little dog were able to spend time together in the very spacious communal areas, but also relax alone in little quiet nooks or the large bedrooms. We visited in the middle of winter and the house was toasty warm even without a fire in the lounge. There is no shortage of things to do - there is a brilliant heated indoor pool and games room that is shared by all the cottages. There is a large lawn area that is good for ball games and the kids enjoyed feeding our vegetable peelings to the farm animals.It is half an hour drive to York in the South, and the same to 2 National Parks, one East, one West. There are a few historical abbeys 15 minutes away and several historical points of interest scattered in close proximity to Birdforth.

Wonderful place for large parties. We don't often find somewhere that can accommodate our extended family of 20 all at one time (13 adults and 7 children, ranging from 1 to 7 years old). This place is fantastic - very well equipped with a main kitchen and a smaller kitchen back to back, a large dining space, many bedrooms throughout the ground floor and first floor levels, a huge lounge and a smaller family area, beautiful outdoor space, and an indoor pool, which also has table tennis available. We have all had a wonderful week here at Birdforth Hall Holiday cottages and wouldn't hesitate to come back.The cottages are well served, being not far from the main road into the picturesque town of Thirsk (which has many coffee venues in which to relax. My favourite is the White Rose cafe/bookstore) and close enough to York for a day trip by car or train. We also visited the Maize Maze, which was fun for adults and children alike. Lots to do in the this lovely location.

Stayed in Mill House for 4 nights, 2 families totalling 8 people. Everything about Birdforth Hall Holiday Cottages is excellent, the pool is really nice and the allocated timings means you have it to yourself, we really enjoyed the pizza shack to celebrate a birthday, the hosts provided the pizza dough at a good price and explained everything to us. The cottage was plenty spacious enough for us all and also had outdoor seating. Hosts are on site and very nice and helpful.Great location, only about 15 mins from the A1, we explored Sutton Bank, Thirsk and Brimham Rocks and spent the rest of the time enjoying the cottage and facilities.Would definitely return.

Absolutely loved staying here, we came as a charity group, Paul and Sue were wonderful hosts, they made us pizza and pavlova and we enjoyed using the hottub in the garden of our house. Very comfortable and large houses with lovely beds and bathrooms too. Thank you for supporting our charity!

The Mill House was ideal for our party of 14 with great access to the pool. The house was clean, tidy and well equipped. The decor and furnishings are utilitarian at best but perfectly adequate for our long weekend. We were unfortunate to have no heating or hot water to half of the house for the full time we were there, we were given electric heaters and extra wood for the log burner but had to share 3 bathrooms. We made the most of it and the booking agent successfully helped us with a complaint to the owner upon our return.
