As I understand, Martijn Knap has sold from a Dutch cheese van called “The Cheesewheeler” for 17 years. Every Wednesday and Friday he can be found at the north end of St Albans Market, so I thought that I should add him to the map!His wife, I believe, runs “The Cheesemonger” shop in Ongar. Between them they stock an amazing array of British and Continental cheeses at reasonable prices. Apparently Brexit is posing challenges but there is always a fabulous display and service is always welcoming.

Never been to the St Albans shop but Martijn sold me many cheese at Thaxted in the Friday Market, from the Cheesewheeler van.Always had good recommendations based on past purchases. It didn't take long for him to know my tastes and remember me.Great character, fantastic cheeses selected from small producers he visited personally to evaluate.I cannot recommend him highly enough.

You can find them only on market days, Wednesday and Saturday, offering a fantastic selection of cheeses. The hospitable owners and their van have introduced me to a variety of delightful cheeses - a big thank you to them!
