The Maiden Stone
Interesting history. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Parking available. A 3 minute walk further up the road leads to a statue of persephone in the woodland. Just off the road.

Interesting standing stone with good information board on site. Maybe not somewhere to visit for its own sake but if you are passing nearby it is worth stopping to have a look

The Maiden Stone
I was pleased to see it without its winter cover. It has a slope up to it, but I didn't try it out. Its still a difficult carpark to turn, as quite scary as the traffic was flying past at a great rate of knots and you can hardly see as you try yo get put of the area. I wondered why they, the powers that be , don't make more use about this stone in the field behind the stone instead.If you are interested local history its a must see.

One of the few Pictish standing stones that are still readable.(if you can translate?) Easy parking, pretty accessible and in a nice spot. My great grandparents grew up near chapel of Garioch so this had been on my to do list when passing.

The Maiden Stone
Wonderful Pictish stone , inscriptions on all 4 sides. Shadows help pick out features , go early a.m. or nearer Sunset. The stone is protected from the elements during Winter , so don't visit then, it's covered up.

A free visit to add to your holisay hit list...My visit curiously left me wanting more. The interpretation illustration accompanying the stone was extremely informative and with ample parking it was wonderful to see and touch this ancient stone set alongside many others in the locality. It helps to bring to life the ancient history of Scotland and the people that lived in this glorious nation.

Beautiful quiet spot to enjoy a beautiful stone. Heaps of dedicated parking and nice area to sit by the stone.
