Houdini's Escape Room Experience - Nottingham

I went to Houdini's escape room today with 2 friends and had the best time. We've done several escape rooms together elsewhere before, but this has been my favourite one we've ever done. We did Extinct" and it was very immersive and interactive. Thalia was our GM and she was really lovely

We had a brilliant experience doing Poppa Plock's Wonky Workshop on Halloween. Had Gareth as our game master who was fantastic, he brought so much energy to the game and gave us a really positive debriefing at the end which made our night! Played in a group of 6, was quite cramped so would recommend more for a group of 4 or 5 but still definitely worth a play. We have quite a lot of escape room experience and this one was very well balanced, we made it out in 52 minutes with just 1 hint and were told that this was considered to be a very good time. All in all, very good escape rooms (have previously done Extinct) and would highly recommend!

Our team BUC went on the last slot of the evening. Gareth was absolutely brilliant, even though it was the last game he was enthusiastic, entertaining and funny. Made our experience a brilliant one. Would highly recommend and looking forward to doing the next room with Gareth hopefully! What an asset!

Me and my partner did the Titanic room and had a brilliant time! Gareth was a fantastic host, very witty and full of character - he made the experience very entertaining and enjoyable. The puzzles were quite challenging, but achievable with a bit of thought (and some trial and error). The room was well-themed and had some whimsical and unexpected surprises. We'd thoroughly recommend giving this a try, we can't wait to return and try out the other rooms! One small thing that could be improved upon would be to add some signage at the main entrance of the bowling alley to point out the location of the escape rooms, as it wasn't very clear where we needed to go - however this didn't take anything away from the experience itself :)

Thanks Gareth for a wonderful escape room experience! With one experienced escape room fan and three relatively inexperienced in our group, he struck the balance well between explaining the situation before we went in but not too much! Played a convincingly grumpy Alcatraz warden and was very engaged and ensured we had the best time! Would love to come again and try another one!

This was our first time doing an escape room and we were unsure what to expect. We thoroughly enjoyed the Alcatraz room and would massively recommend visiting and having Gareth as your host. Gareth is truly an escape room enthusiast and someone who will truly immerse you in the spirit of the game and give you cryptic clues to get your thinking and help you along in completing the game.A huge, personal thank you to Gareth… we wouldn’t have had half the fun we did nor completed the game in excellent time without your help.Your wonderful enthusiasm has rubbed off on us and we will be sure to visit again and try another room.A real pleasure to have you as a host !

We did the Titanic room. It was pretty tough but we managed to get out with 16 minutes to spare. Captain Grace was a great host.Just a couple of things to point out. We were slightly late getting in. The staff seemed to be a little rushed.The escape room itself was a little worn out. Could do with a bit of a refresh.Overall, it was a pretty good, challenging room.

We went for my daughter's 11th birthday. 7 kids and me. They loved it, very clever and Gareth the games master was very helpful giving us just the right amount of tips and lots of encouragement.Only negative is that previous people had been heavy handed and there were quite a number of broken props which was a shame. Hopefully they'll be fixed soon?

Great experience and highly recommended!! Myself and the kids (15 and 10) did the Alcatraz escape and really enjoyed it. Gareth was fantastic in his role, very enthusiastic and made sure we had lots of fun other than explaining things clearly, thanks a lot Gareth! We all want to come back now!!

We have now completed 3/4 escape rooms as a group of 5-6. We've had lots of fun on all three games. However we have to mention our GM Gareth, who was GM for 2/3 of our games, as both of his games we have thoroughly enjoyed and he brings so much life and involvement into the game. Thank you Gareth for such amazing games and we all look forward to having you for Extinct.
