Breckenlea Shetland Pony Stud

My wife Kay and I had the absolute joy of spending our afternoon at the Breckenlea Shetland Pony Stud last Tuesday. It was a planned excursion from our Fred Olsen cruise ship Balmoral which in itself was fantastic but not the point of this review where I will try and articulate how tremendous this excursion is. Marion our host was lovely, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and frankly authentically in love with her sheep, dogs and in my opinion the main event their miniature Shetland ponies. These ponies could have their own show and combining them with a superb location made the afternoon the highlight of our week away. Catherine our guide was fully invested and clearly would spend all day every day at Breckenlea if she could. Do not miss out if you get the opportunity because as well as a business this is how fantastic creatures should be looked after. We will be back next year
