Myself and my friend attended Saturday for the afternoon tea. We were greeted very politely when we arrived by all staff and shown to our table. Darren was serving our table and provided a fab service, with a smile throughout. The afternoon tea we received was delicious and a great choice. We would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back again. Thank you all again for an amazing afternoon tea experience.

Absolutely the best pie we have ever tasted! Excellent place to celebrate my birthday, lovely comfortable surroundings and the staff were engaging interesting chatty and great fun. We will definitely visit again - Excellent parking for disabled drivers right out side 3 hours free!

Lovely decor in a nice hotel in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. Very friendly staff, and as you can see it’s dog friendly too (massive bonus!).The setting, ambience, and the fire all add to the experience. The menu is interesting, and the food was good. I felt I added quite a lot of salt to mine, but of course that’s personal taste. The haddock was a little greasy. If I could give this place 4.5 stars I would, but for me a 5* is exceptional, so a worthy 4 stars. Lovely way to spend an evening

The Angel never disappoints. Fabulous food, excellent decor, the best service, thank you Jasmine and Tom, who always have a lovely warm welcome and are attentive to all your needs, we always feel very spoilt. Highly recommend a visit.

Such a lovely space to enjoy afternoon tea. Open fire, soft furnishings. Service was wonderful. Food was delicious. Not many black tea varieties offered, and personally we would have all liked more sandwiches and less sweet things, but that is personal preference. There were only 3 tiny sandwich fingers. All delicious, hence we would have liked more. Glass of champers was an enjoyable start!

Tried the 3 course meal with a cocktail for £35. It was excellent. A good choice 3 different starters, mains and deserts. The service was very good. The restaurant is well spaced out with interesting decor.Great location in the town, opposite entrance to Abbey Gardens. Parking 10 minutes walk at Ram Meadows £3 for the whole day.

Absolutely delicious pie with generous amounts of fresh vegetables, mashed potato and gravy. All in a cool, yet comfy dining room, provided by cool yet charming staff. Short but well constructed wine list - lots of good value options. Highly, highly recommended.

I attended our afternoon tea with 8 of my colleagues on Wednesday 6th December for afternoon tea.The setting was beautiful with the log fire, the waiter was attentive, unfortunately it went rather downhill from the introduction of the food.Prior to booking, I had checked any changes could be catered for. I sent all changes and requirements, with people names, thinking this would be helpful, making it easier to identify individual’s needs.As the plates were being brought out, we were then asked who had what, I did advise that they should already have a list, we ended up with a plate of salmon with the cream cheese, no egg, and limited turkey.It was explained to us that some of the stacked serving plates would be to share, which was fine, but did become rather confusing.Issues we experienced.• Very disorganised.• After 30+ minutes, we just accepted whatever we had on the table, and tried to share it out.• Sandwiches: there were multiple salmon and cheese, and had to advise, some of these needed to be without cream cheese, limited turkey, and egg.• Missing 2 sausage rolls and 2 muffins.• I found a strand of hair or fine fabric in my salmon sandwich, I did send this back, but no apology.• The plain scones were very dry and heavy, I have attached a photo, as on slicing they just crumbled.• Fruit scones were verging on rock cakes.• The gluten free stand did not have a scone, or alternative.As I had organised this, I wanted to ensure everyone was catered for, in the end I only had, one salmon, and one egg, 1/2 plain scone, as this was not palatable, and one cake.I have had an afternoon tea at the Angel and could not fault it, the scones were light and fluffy, giving me a standard to go by
