Thanks for the unexpected trip to Mudeford then Tuckton. Had a ball. Perfect trip during the lunchtime. Should keep it, as it was a great way to see so much.

Incredible experience; geographically knowledgeable skipper in a beautiful well-maintained boat with a small draft, meaning it can cruise the estuary at low spring tide. Friendly crew. Best trip all spring.

In summer Bournemouth Boating operate a ferry service on Christchurch River from Tucton Bridge and Christchurch Quay to Mudeford Sandbank using a fleet of four classic 1930s built wooden launches. Two of the boats are completely open and two have had covered areas added for use in inclement weather. They also offer motor boats for hire by the hour and half hour.

Ferry service to Hengistbury Head (Mudeford beach) or Wick and Tuckton.Very friendly service, both in the ticket office and on the ferry. Going to Mudeford beach takes around 20min. Lovely trip.

You can hire a small motor boat here from spring to autumn and explore the river Stour and Christchurch Harbour. Beware though. The river gets very busy with rowing and sailing boats.

Great fun for all ages, the hourly rate is on the steep side for such small low powered boats, but they seem to be able to get away with it. Theres no end of photo opportunities, other boat users are always considerate to the small boat users, so have no concerns over that.

So much fun, would recommend the 30 minute option if you have young children (under 4s) as mine were getting bored by the end.
