Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn
We stumbled into this old establishment on our way from Manchester to Sheffield and it was the entire British pub experience that you dream of. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Even the regular patrons were helping us order the right food. Massive fish and chips serving. The meat pies and green mash were delicious. Plenty of beer options. Now I can say I ate at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn in Castleton. Crazy cool.

Nice little pub with a big beer selection, and decent food. The sticky toffee pudding with custard is a must if you like hot desserts.I haven't stayed in one of their rooms so I can't comment on that.

Popped in for an afternoon beer on a busy and very sunny Autumn Saturday. It was quite busy so had to wait a little while to be served with only two staff behind the bar. Not a problem as we weren't in any kind of rush. Not a massive range of ales but the ones we tried were lovely, plus they were happy for us to sample first. That's always a good sign of a pub that knows they have decent ales.Although busy, someone left and we were able to sit down near a window. The pub has an olde world feel, as befits it's name, but for me was a little dark and claustrophobic, getting a seat near a window was a boon.Couldn't see any sign of a beer garden as that would be our place to settle on what was a gorgeous warm afternoon. Not sure it would be my first choice from the pub options in Castleton but glad we at last tried it.

We had a lovely two course meal for two at this cosy place. At first we thought the mains were expensive but once the food came we realised it’s because it’s high quality food. The belly pork was really incredible, perfectly cooked. The smoked cheese mash and apple gravy were phenomenal. We loved the treacle sponge and custard. Will definitely be back with the family to try the gluten free menu too. Don’t come if you’re in a rush, good food takes time :)

Booked a single room for a cheeky quick one night get away to do some mountain biking over 2 days. Made to feel very welcome when I arrived at the pub and also decided to eat there in the evening. Had a good laugh with the lady serving and the food was as you would expect and hearty and the beer was good and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent as was the service again. Having their own parking was also a nice perk and very flexible.Within easy walking distance of everything you need and a good start to the rides I completed. The single room was cozy and a bit quirky with the shower in the room and toilet down some steps round the corner, but it worked well. Would happily stay there again.

Brilliant stop at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese after a day of hiking. Lovely meal with both vegetarian and vegan options which is very much appreciated. A wonderful selection of ales from local breweries with a selection of styles to choose from. Very much appreciated after a long day!
