There is a great annual event held in May for the Wartime WeekendIt's not glamourising war. Its showcasing and regaling our history. Very informative I'm very nice grounds

I last visited here back in 2019, & there definitely has been improvements. There are various shops, from a craft shop, to a pottery shop, & an art shack, with a gallery coming soon. Also coming soon is a distillery shop. Other than the shops, there is a cafe, toilets & of course, there is plenty to explore!

Absolutely delightful visit this fine and sunny day. We enjoyed reading about the restoration project and came away eager to contribute to this important work. The spatter of artisan potters and jewelers was so lovely and we bought some fab items. The little cafe was open and the food was fresh and delicious - we had sandwiches in gluten free bread. Really lovely visit enhanced by the beautiful gardens and flowers which are clearly well maintained and cared for. ❤️

Very quiet and lovely place to spend a relaxing day. Caffè and pottery whitin the walls and some chanse to get to know the place historically. We are cycling very often nearby and always have a look.

Had a nice wander round, cafe was open but didn't pop in to any of the shops as on my way home. Didn't realise how old it is!

t's an interesting place to visit, but it could do with some information boards outside, & something on what they're trying to achieve. There are few craft shops here, mainly ceramics / pottery, & a photo gallery. Rather wet when we visited, luckily there's a cafe which produces some scrumpy homemade food. Within a mile is Brougham Castle, an English Heritage site.

About 10-15 minutes from Penrith this interesting fortified house has lots to offer. It is home to several pottery studios, artists, and a jeweller maker - detail in the photographs. The cafe offers light food and beverages with lots of seating within the grounds of the walled garden. You can climb up the steps for views from the walls but be careful. The world famous door knocker is on the outside of the house so walk through the mini gate it's on the left. The history of the house can be found online. The grounds also house a beautiful church building but it was not open on.ky visit.Lots of shops to explore and buy art crafts and pottery from. The potters/artists/cafe people are very kind and friendly. The carpark is reasonably sized so you should be able to park, if not park nearby. Its definitely worth a visit...

There's not a great deal to see. Some nice little shops but very expensive. We were waiting so long for a cup of tea, not great service and i don't understand how it can take about 25 minutes to make 2 cups of tea, and they didn't come out with the milk. Apart from that it's free to see the ruins and to park so still worth a visit.
