M&P Preservation

I have previously used both Marston Timber and Plad in the past. Since they have both merged and formed M&P, they carried out work on my house and I was extremely pleased with the service i received.

I completely agree with the reviewer before me. We used these through the recommendation of our estate agent in November when a mortgage survey suggested damp. The man who arrived was clearly in a rush, spent all of 5 minutes with his damp meter and then condemned the house to be riddled with rising damp. He even had the audacity to say that the houses on our street had the damp courses fitted incorrectly. He told me that all of the plaster would have to be taken off and the walls injected in which we'd all have to move out. Luckily I wasn't as stupid as he thought I was! We paid for a 'professional' to carry out a damp survey properly and it turned out a small section of the wall had penetrating damp caused by the mortar needing repointing-cost to fix £105. I would stay away from this company!!!

Absolute shambolic company. Fly tipped rubbish on the road outside of a property on our road. No skip, no permit, no nothing. I happened to see what turned out to be the owner of the company...... when I asked him if it would be removed he basically laughed in my face and told me no. He didn’t care however many parking spaces ( which are limited ) he was taking up and told me to and I quote “ deal with it “. The attitude of the owner tells you all you need to know about the company itself. Avoid like the plague!

I was very happy when I used M&P. Getting someone in is always a worry but they were professional and courteous. They explained previous experience and the work that would be required. The survey, assessment and quote gave me the confidence to award them the work.Once they started the work was carried out with minimal disruption and mess. better still the problem is now resolved. Happy with that.

The report that these people produced was all of about 12 lines and it basically condemned the house. It was clear that they were trying to win business and not trying to produce an independent report. They spent an grand total of 15 minutes in our house and spent another 3 minutes writing a report that worried the new buyers to death. We live in a 300 year old property, its stood for 300 years and there report implied it would fall down in the next 4 months.I would seriously avoid these people.We ended up getting a second report from another company, who said it wasn't the first time that they had heard bad reports on the company. The second company wrote a 4 page report and it cost half the money - and guess what, not a problem found (the damp was moisture from cooking and the tumble dryer, no problem and no work needed... Even new houses get moisture).Sorry, these people are cowboys of the highest order!!!

The surveyor arrived when promised. Once quote accepted a date was agreed. Young man Jamie arrived and did a wonderful, clean, efficient job where all my flooring downstairs was replaced and treated due to woodworm. Am delighted with the work done and would thoroughly recommend M & P

Steve the surveryor was helpful and patient when we had to make changes to what was planned for damp proofing work and putting in a new concete floor to the kitchen. The team that did the job were helpful and have done a neat and tidy job understanding well our needs. They have been competitive price wise and we just felt confident in their hands.

From initial meeting to completion of works, I was very happy with the service. Professional throughout and a job well done.
