Not a massive museum as the upstairs has been given to the college students. Ground floor has a very good range of different historical items, there's something for everyone. Lots of small exhibits squeezed in. They had a separate room for Taxidermy, I must add that it was one of the best taxidermy exhibits I had seen in a long time. Small cafe where you could get a hot drink, not much else. Price was reasonable and you can come back as many times as you want for free within 12 months. Very friendly staff. Unfortunately we did have lots of college students coming in and out not for the museum

Lovely service from the workers, and there was a brilliant community vibe with the visitors too. The different sections were each really full and exciting especially the animal area.

Interesting place for all people young and old with plenty of things to keep the little one occupied. The cost per adult is £5pp and that gives unlimited visits for a year annual my two year old was free of charge. There is a small area serving hot and cold drinks and a place to sit and watch children playing in the designated kids corner. There are lots of plans this year to expand the exhibition and also a newly added art gallery so if you haven’t been in a while I recommend it.Having a little one with a small attention span I can keep returning so cover all the different rooms.Highly recommended looking forward to going back next week.

Stumbled upon this whilst visiting Kendal. Quite a small museum, but has some decent artefacts inside such as ancient Egypt and Roman items. I’d say the best part of the museum was the Victorian taxidermy section. An incredible amount of animals and something that kids would find very interesting. They have a few snacks at the entrance but no cafe or anything.

Fantastic little museum with lots of interesting pieces from a range of subjects. The taxidermy section was brilliant and packed full of information. Definitely something for everyone.

A stunning, priceless gem . Beautifully presented utterly amazing range of exhibits . Must be seen to be believed. Better than the London Natural History Museum because it is smaller, more accessible, exhibits so close to view and of such high quality. Urgently needs a secure source of funding to stay open and cared for beyond the end of 2023. Is there anyone out there that can help ? Contact the curator Carol Davies at the museum.

A beautiful smallish museum chock full of great displays that will stand multiple visits with a child. You'll always find something you missed last time.
