This is probably the most popular picnic site in the Dale for families, offering a riverside location, space for games and lots of excitement climbing and running up the bumps, the grassed over spoil heaps of an old quarry. Both banks of of the Bollihope Burn offer excellent walks downstream.From the Stanhope end of Frosterley turn right on the unclassifed road signed to Frosterley Station, past the Black Bull and and turn right for Hill End at the junction. As the road flattens at the valley bottom there is parking on the left, either side of the Bollihope Burn.

Superb place to go with your friends and children, the children can enjoy a paddle or try their skills across the stepping stones, “with wellingtons or flip flops for protections of the stones “ while you experience the tranquility of this gem of the countryside.

Didn't go to the caravan park but the walk beside the river was very pretty and interesting where the landscape had been altered over the years by the limestone mining. Well worth the walk. It is a circular walk.
