Fantastic stand-up comedy course. 10 weeks ago I'd never written a joke and last night I took part in the New Act Night show at The Komedia Brighton at the end of the course. Jill is a brilliant teacher and as she told us in week one, trust the process. You'll get amazing advice and guidance but also realism, honesty and, in the moments you doubt yourself, encouragement! You learn so much and you'll be up trying things out from the start. Plus you'll meet a lovely bunch of people on the course too. If you're wondering whether or not to give it a go, the answer is yes....

Jill Edwards Comedy Workshops
I attended Jill’s weekend comedy course in Bath and it was fantastic. We did some great exercises to teach us how to write and structure jokes and developed a short set which we performed on stage at the end of the course. We learnt how to use a microphone correctly and how to deliver jokes on stage and keep the audience’s attention.Jill gave us concise and excellent feedback which allowed me to quickly understand and build my knowledge about the art of comedy.I will certainly look to do one of the more in-depth courses that Jill offers as soon as possible with a view to improve further and make people laugh.If it’s something you are thinking about doing, take the plunge and enjoy yourself.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Jill Edwards International Comedy Course!I found it to be a very comprehensive and useful stand-up course. On top of teaching (and making everyone practice) basic joke writing structure, Jill tackled areas of the comedy world that other instructors often neglect, such as how to deal with heckling, how to handle 'dying' on stage, and how to create comedy content online.It's an active, rather than passive, course. You are assigned homework every week to share with the class, but you will improve if you take the time to do it. Jill offers a lot of constructive criticism, and doesn't put anyone down. I also really enjoyed the read your jokes that don't work" portion of the class. Some of that garbage might be better suited for the recycling bin!If you're interested in delving into the realm of stand-up and joke writing

I registered for Jill's course because I thought it would be fun. I had no aspirations to be a stand up comedian. I knew Jill has decades of experience training comics but I still was blown away by the way she transformed me and my course companions over the course of a few short months. Performing my set at the end of the course, in front of an audience of 200+ at Komedia's New Acts night, is a memory I'll treasure for a lifetime. Great fun, I learned loads, and met a bunch of brilliant new friends. Thanks Jill :)

I've just completed Jill's one week course. If you think stand-up comedy is easy, think again. The people you've seen be successful at it have probably been trained by Jill!We were guided through the whole process from understanding the anatomy of a joke, to creating a set, stagecraft and finally to performing it to a live audience. Terrifying and exhilarating in equal measures.But you can totally trust in Jill. With her vast experience, firm direction and constructive feedback, she gets the best out of you and she's delighted when you succeed. I can honestly say we all delivered way beyond our expectations on the night and that's entirely thanks to Jill! Thank you.

Easy five stars. I loved every session of Jill’s comedy course. Jill is knowledgeable, warm, and encouraging, but also not afraid to deliver honest feedback, which makes her the perfect teacher. I learnt so much from joke writing techniques and learning about the structure of a joke, right through to exploring my own comedic “style” and building a mini set to perform to the group. I’d recommend this course to anyone with an interest in comedy - even if you don’t end up doing the circuits, you’ll leave the course with more confidence and having had a great time. I signed up to do Jill's course because I wanted to do something challenging and scary. I had no intention of making it a career or of even doing it as a hobby after the course - but I am totally in love! I have been a stay-at-home mum for 10 years and doing this for myself has fulfilled me in ways I could not possibly have imagined. Jill's teaching is absolutely incredible - she makes us feel so safe and assured that we will not be getting up in front of people until we're ready. And yet in 10 short weeks she really does have us ready! It's actually quite difficult to believe the transformation. I trust Jill implicitly and can absolutely say that without the course I would never have discovered this new love. I'm absolutely on top of the world!

Could not recommend this course more, it’s an unbelievable experience. Regardless of your background or what you’ve done previously, Jill will give you the tools to find the jokes only you can make and get you ready to go on stage to perform. If you are even slightly thinking about doing something like this, just do it. You will love it.
