Edinburgh Food Safari

I cannot express enough how delightful our Scottish cooking experience turned out to be. We had an extraordinary time discovering new recipes and getting to know the host. We are deeply grateful for their hospitality in welcoming us into their exquisite home and guiding us in preparing our last meal of our remarkable trip. The experience is one that will stay with me forever.

I organized a tour for quite a large group of American students with Edinburgh Food Safari this spring. Nell was fantastic to work with from beginning to end. The food, service, and collaboration were top-notch from beginning to end, and the group loved their experience. She was able to cater very well for our group's dietary restrictions, too, and gave us a very competitive price. Thanks, Nell!!

Nell curated a special trip just for us as we could not go during her regular scheduled times. So accommodating!! It was just our small group. I also mentioned my LOVE for pastry and she managed to add in 2 spots that appealed to my own unique tastes!! First, can I say what an infectious zest for food and love of local curators and entrepreneurs Nell has! She is doing something special by drawing attention from big producers and highlighting local businesses that are doing unique and wonderful things in the local food scene in Edinburgh. We discovered a little part of Edinburgh we would have never found on our own. Along the way, we got little bits of history rolled into carefully menu selections at each of our stops. Nell clearly knew the owners and workers at each stop by name, making it clear these are places she not only brings her tours but also frequents herself. She wants to bring her favorites to you! Such attention to detail and a class act all the way. Spunky and lovely, we just enjoyed every minute we had in her company! I wish every tour guide had equal enthusiasm for their subject. We would have done another if we had more time. Fully recommend her tours over the larger tour companies that seem to lack the genuine and personalized attention we received.

Awesome Afternoon!Our foodie tour was amazing! Nell is a fabulous and delightful guide! She shared her favorite places, foods, stories and history of Edinburgh, while we listened, walked, enjoyed and ate and drank like kings and queens in the best neighborhood establishments. This tour was 10 out of 10, a true gem! We can’t say enough positive things! A must do for anyone visiting Edinburgh.

The most fantastic food tour in Edinburgh! We all loved it and had such an enjoyable time with Nell - her food knowledge is amazing (and about Edinburgh too) and it was great fun - delicious local food too! Couldn't recommend it more highly.

Fun. Informative. Engaging. And deeply satisfying.I went on the Edinburgh Food Safari tour around Leith. I may be an Edinburgh resident, but I learnt so much about my own city, and the history and heritage of Leith.In between the walk, we stopped at fabulous places for satisfying, rich, comforting and delicious food and drink; from warm scones with cream, to warming Kedigree and truly homemade Cullen skink. I loved by G&T too by Lind & Lime, a local distiller in Leith. Would highly recommend.

Nell welcomed us into her home, oversaw our cooking attempts and then treated us to a wonderful meal. Beyond the meal, the evening included lots of Scotland history, culture and her love of Edinburgh. We were traveling with 3 children (10/12/14) and all were warmly welcomed, encouraged with the cooking and tasting, and treated to one of our favorite evenings in Edinburgh. Thank you again for a memorable Scottish evening!

We really enjoyed this walk around “New Town” and areas of Edinburgh that are a bit less touristy with Nell. She’s knowledgeable about the area of course, I learned a lot about the architecture and history, and the food was a bonus. She’s friendly and easy going, she loves her work.

Absolutely fantastic. Went with our entire adult family all with different likes and we all enjoyed it. The food was delicious, the historical facts were so interesting, Nell was charming and we would All do the true again. Great fun!

A very enjoyable and informative few hours with Nell. I've lived in Edinburgh all my life but we visited places I'd never been to. The variety of stops was very good and the food was excellent. I'll definitely be returning to The Bailie for their terrific haggis!Nel was very knowledgable and engaging and we enjoyed learning new things about the New Town.Highly recommend for both residents and visitors.
