A fantastic place to see a variety of birds and invertebrates. The walk around the area is peaceful and leads to the sand where we were lucky enough to spot a seal popping its head out of the water to inspect us.

Very quiet, only my companion and 2 regular guys in the hide. Took shelter from a storm. But, saw Gadwall, Little Egret, Avocet. But no Spoonbill today.

Water levels were really low when I was there. Still a fair amount of birds to see and a pleasant walk around. Free parking.

Lovely Yorkshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve to explore. I had already been over to Spurn Point and called at this one afterwards. Has a car park for maybe up to 15 cars or so. Pleasant walk around. Dogs allowed on leads. Not overly friendly, found it a bit clicky, if you were a new face you tended to be blanked and sniffed at. There is also a listed structure, a listening dish, on this reserve called a sound mirror. I had never heard of them before. Used as an early warning device in WW1 to detect approaching zeppelins. It sits alongside a load of sunflowers, proud and distinctive on the horizon. A forerunner of radar, these listening ears were acoustic mirrors. The wetlands is a 35 hectares site, specifically designed for roosting waders. There is also a flock of - I think they are Hebridean black sheep, which YWT use for conservation grazing.

Great place to visit for the day with only a hand full of people around. 24/7 open toilets that was clean and useable. No parking restrictions for overnight stay over
