Decent enough uni as far as teaching goes. But as far as support services and facilities they are subpar. Don’t have any bereavements when studying here, the higher ups aren’t bothered as long as they get to cash their cheques

Stoke on Trent. In the top 10 worst places to live in England. People are getting stabbed just outside the campus. This uni started out as a college, and I don’t know how it convinced the government it is now a ‘university’. It’s just a college but more students. No work ethic, no determination from anyone, it felt more like secondary school where students didn’t want to be.The students are local, and I would guess around 60% of them are ‘mature’ students, I thought I would get a university experience, but I was the only university aged kid in my class full of parents and adults who didn’t know what being in a classroom was like, nor did they have any qualifications surpassing one GCSE. One student, a middle aged man, I heard even threatened a young boy and said he was going to attack him when he was outside. The city is full of poverty, as ugly as it is dangerous. The amenities around are next to none. The doctors is miles out, and lacking in care. The university does not shine out, instead it is filled with people who do not care, drugs everywhere, the facilities old. Why anyone would choose to travel to Stoke on Trent is beyond me. I left after a year, and any student here with any sense would do the same. There was also no career prospect, career help or placements I could do.The accomodation is known for flooding, another buildings plumbing had issues, and the students were dumb enough to vape or smoke in their rooms, posing a huge fire risk and setting the fire alarm off at 4am, leaving hundreds of students outside in the pyjamas because of one persons carelessness. Also, roommates are not assigned carefully, and place older people with fresh out of college students, so I had a much older student who was threatening people, and security didn’t do much help. The location of the accomodation was also an issue, right across the road from an awful ‘nightclub’ playing bad remixes and filled with anime kids, these were on Mondays and Wednesdays (I believe) and therefore I could not sleep as it was so obnoxiously loud, and missed some early morning lessons the next day. Also the CLUBS, that is a big one. I attended the society fair at the beginning of the year, but when I enquired the next day, ALL OF THEM replied saying they are not running, and did not run for the whole year. They lur you in with false hopes, then once you are settled at uni and too far in to leave, you realise it all crumbles. The clubs didn’t run, the facilities are not adequate for use and the students have no motivation or hope for their future.I sincerely hope this place improves or is forced to demote to a college again, the crime rate is far too high, and sadly the location is the worst I have ever seen. So you are stuck on campus, which is also split into two between a dangerous road, so walking back from lessons in winter is very dangerous and I couldn’t do it alone. (Note the police cars in the photo)I have definitely not summarised how bad this place was, but I would never wish on my worst enemy to come to Stoke on Trent, let alone the university.Avoid!

Appalling place for students with Special Needs! My son was bullied out and silenced. He has never been able to tell me what was done or said to him. Staffordshire - and one particular lecturer - ruined his life and his hopes. I tried to complain on his behalf and excuses were made at every turn. Asked for name of Safeguarding Officer - every organisation must have one by law. They ignored me. Made Freedom of Information requests about the dropout rate of Special Needs Students under the lecturer who clearly bullied and possibly abused my son. They ignored me. Attend this place at your peril.

I would not recommend Staffordshire university to a stray dog! Their work ethic is poor they have no sense of direction their communication is digusting and they have no sense of understanding. My graduation was on the 14th November and the lack of communication had me missed my time slot to the point they did not make me go on stage to graduate. All because of spacing issues!! 9k a student and you meant to tell me u booked the cheapest venue that cant fit the students who deserves the stage just as everyone else who turned up. Late or on time you should of accommodate the students especially if we have waited 3 MONTHS after resits to have this moment and its been robbed from us! I made a big fuss infront of everyone there that they threatened to call police on me despite im upset that my opportunity was taken from me!!!. I regret taking my studies to this establishment and i am happy im not in any place to go back being as Storm BARRATT states im not capable of doing my masters. I will definitely show you all i will. I would recommend universities in Birmingham or other cities but stay clear from Stoke-on-Trent and staffordshire university, never again.

My Ucas points where near perfect and I could have chosen any university in the country all my offers were unconditional and my key regret in life was choosing this UniAvoid this University until it is known that it has improved.Computer game design 2017-2020A very terrible experience that left me heavily bitter.First of all they accept way too many students for what they can teach. My first year was about 120 students in total, the year below us was easily 200 then the final another 300.There were so many students that you simply couldn't get a pc on some days because a few may be down for maintanence or someone or 2 was in the room that shouldn't have been. I expected that from college but not University upon which i am now laid a debt for my life to pay.The computers simply wernt up to the spec that they advertised on the open days,They allowed sports science and law students into the one library room that was specifically tailored to game design (big wacom tablets/duel monitors and better specs in the machines) this was a ongoing issue through-out the three years.there were far few teachers for students, in a room of 60 students, there would be 2 teachers. So in order to gain feedback you would have to sit tactically to be in the row that the teacher will go to first otherwise, no feedback for you! the forum threads where all the staff were supposed to comment on as you were required to post weekly progress would go weeks and actually moths in one of my cases before giving any feedback.Several assignments were marked late, one was even 2 months late.A few of the teachers simply wernt professional and hindered the learning environment. The halls are very overpriced for what is a renovated prison complex with big white walls and students crammed in like sardines. And now for my personal hate on the University. during our final year the pandemic hit, and lockdowns began across the country with a estimated time on how long they would last, on top of that all non essential buildings were closed. which means our lessons and library was. was there any apologies for this? no was there any adjustments? no. Our final project which required us to work in a team of 15 was not changed in its markings. So a project, that required 15 people to work together in a room to make a game over weeks didn't make any adjustments despite the very important fact of not being able to work in a team in aroom together.instead and I say this with disbelief, Stuart Butler Course director stated in the staffs discord that we should be thankful for the oppotunity to be working like the rest of the industry" (online and at home) He said this with no care
